TML? More like FML, amirite? Yet Another Off Season Thread

I just think it's crazy to think of your top pair D against the back to back champs as a pure cap dump. I think you regret that. He played above and beyond his AAV in the series. If you have a replacement lined up, have at it. But to just dump him for nothing and expect to be improved next year is ballsy. For me, you have to get value back. Otherwise bring him back. The appeal is to trade him while he has value and get ahead of a potential decline that may or may not happen.

If the decline is already priced in then forget it. Because I think he has more to give.

Yeah I think we stand pat on D.

The interesting questions this offseason imo are Campbell, Mrazek, Kerfoot, Mikheyev, and their potential upgrades.

well yeah that’s what makes it interesting.

If he is healthy dealing him makes your team worse. You only do it if you think you can make your team better by utilizing that space. Which really only makes sense if you are convinced he is done. A good package of futures is irrelevant.

For the record, any stats Pulju might have are likely due to him getting very sheltered ozone usage with McDavid, and i'm pretty sure now in the playoffs he's all the way down on the 4th line.

He's bad, and may be out of the league again soon.

The futures package is more about the generic value I think they could get for him. i.e. a late 1st + a B prospect just means players or a package similar to that; could be guys ready to step in right away or it could mean a literal 1st and a B prospect that is flipped for another team in a larger package for a 2C or 2/3D or something. I don't literally mean late 1st + B prospect and stand pat and do nothing else of course.

But regardless, it would be very ballsy to make the move I think. There aren't many Muzzin's out there. At least not the guy we saw in the playoffs. I don't know where you'd find one available. I probably lean towards rolling the dice and hope hes playoff Muzzin and not season Muzzin. His NTC then becomes modified next summer and that's when you can reevaluate.

Nah. His w/o McDavid nerdies are solid. Oil messed with this development and he will never live up to his draft placement but there is potential there in the bottom 6 on a friendly deal

Regular season points
and finished 4th in the league in points

i would not punish teams of the past because they did not play 82 games or have 3 on 3 OT / shootouts

leafs were the best regular season team 6 times - even won a few cups those seasons

i assumed they had the most wins/points in the league at least a few times

Finishing first in a 6 team league is no more impressive than finishing top-5 in a 30 team league.

This year the Leafs had the best pts% in team history, though there is a chance the 50-51 leafs might have had a better record when factoring out 3pt games.

Also, while losing in 7gms to the back to back champs hurts, the Leafs have also never won more than 2 playoffs rounds in their history.

Whew. This makes me feel a lot better.

so the leafs can fix him!

but he is sorta the opposite of chuk
- good without the puck - shit with it

so good without the puck that he never gets dzone starts and is now getting bit 4th line duty.
