We needed one more goal in each of the last two games. We can’t be pissing on refs when our offense runs dry every single year. I agree, they were fucking bullshit, but the top guys have to overcome. It’s not like Matty and Marner weren’t allowed in the ice in the final two games. No refs stopped them from scoring while they were on the ice (well, they did kinda stop Tavares, but I digress).

The Leafs needed a statement game 1 performance in one of games 6 or 7. They didn’t even come close. Just compare game tape of game 1 hungry unstoppable bull Matty versus game 6/7 meek and relatively unseen Matty. He’s a 60 goal guy. He can’t be worse than Nick Paul in that game.

Score actual fucking goals in “beast mode” level quantities.

It’d also be nice if the next time the Leafs have a chance to eliminate a playoff opponent, Auston pretends that he’s chasing down 60 goals in the regular season and plays at that level.

you can't be serious. Marner didn't even score after game 2, and had 1 assist in game 6 and 7 combined.

Matthews overall numbers were fine as long as you're talking about an allstar 1st liner instead of the "best player in hockey". I expect more from somebody who wants that moniker. like we're seeing from McDavid right now.

Matthews regular season was great. I still think he deserves the Hart Trophy, which is based on regular season performance. he'll get all the accolades he deserves for that.

but 33 points in 39 games is not nearly enough for the best player in the game in the playoffs. full stop.

All these ghost stats are cute when evaluating a new player to trade for or sign, but absolute horseshit when evaluating a team’s performance in a game. How many games have we seen in just this playoffs alone so far where the winning team was being outshot 2 to 1? Real goals >>>

Yeah, I don’t hate on these stats as legitimate evaluation tools based on large sample sizes of games.

But in the playoffs and especially in important individual playoff games, I could not possibly give less of a shit about individual players or the team having pretty XGF numbers if they’re not accompanied by tangible results.
 
They’ve stunk in the past, but Matthews 9 points in 7 games is a 62 point in 48 game pace. He scored at Kuch level.

Marners 8 points would be 55 in 48.
 
Our players are not stepping up. We know have 6 years of this shit. We should have been in a finals already. You only have so many chances.

Honestly, with these guys, we have to forget about what they do in games 1-5. They’ve proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that they could win a 5 game series, unless it’s against Columbus.

All we should care about is games 6-7 performance, where they’ve honestly shown they’re some of the worst players in the league so far. Nearly pointless, completely winless. That’s the only thing we need to fix, and it won’t be by keeping Muzz or replacing or not replacing Jack. Everything else is scapegoating and excuses.

Kerf in the playoffs this year was completely useless and actually hurt the team. Weird performance after last year’s solid play.

Kase was fucking crap. I don’t necessarily mind him coming back at the same price ish, but would prefer someone else if he wants any amount more or any term.
