Trade Deadline 2014

I am curious about the overated of the Kings pluggers. Clifford, King, etc.

Winning a Cup really boosts a pluggers value -- Moen has been cashing in that cheque for years.

The fact that the pickings for top flight dmen is slim and that we all know that they are the hottest commodities if markov was put on the block the return may be amazing.

Thats the way it should be, we'll see what actually gets done...

The Kings are 1-8-1 in their last 10 games. Now would be the time to send Markov their way.

Not exactly sure what I would want from LA. I still want us to get Stewart, although I'm not sure how that would work with all of The D-man they got there. There's gotta be a way though...

I'm really really curious what Markov would fetch on the market.

For once we may have a very hot commodity that a half dozen teams may be seriously be interested in.

He would get more than Iginla did for no other reasons than 1) Jay Feaster is a complete moron and 2) Iginla had a NTC, which I don't think 79 has any longer.

More like Jagr?

MacDermid
Payne
2013 cond. 2nd-round pick

Morrow and a pick for Morrow and a pick?

I really think the value is with those meh guys.

Clowe for
2013 2nd-round pick
2013 3rd-round pick
2014 cond. 2nd-round pick

Regher for
2014 2nd-round pick
2015 2nd-round pick

Murray for
2013 2nd-round pick
2014 2nd-round pick

Leopold for
2013 2nd-round pick
2013 5th-round pick

Teams with cash-flow issues probably don't want to have to pay UFA's with no arena revenue coming in for the next 17 days.

Hmm, would be awesome to use that to our advantage. Trade for Vanek now, then turn around and deal him away for a larger return right after the Olympic deadline. I'd trade 17 days of holding on to his cap hit for like a 5th round pick...

I think Markov would be attractive in that dmen are always harder to find at the deadline than the forwards...on top of that Markov is a #2 caliber guy on most quality teams.

I would expect he'd get us a 1st rounder (late 1st rounder) + quality 22-25 year old young player.

I expect teams will be looking hard at Andrew MacDonald.

Reportedly turned down a four-year, $16 million offer from the Islanders and is likely to be dealt.

ian_mendes:
• Tim Murray on potentially making a deal with the Senators: "I would certainly know what I'm getting back — no question."
• Murray also doesn't sound interested in stockpiling 2014 picks. "We're not in a Crosby draft or a Malkin draft and that's unfortunate."

If I were GM I would look for as many first round picks in 2015 as possible. If we can get 3, even 4 then the possibility for moving up in that draft increases greatly.

Markov should get us one. Struggling to think who else on the Habs aside from Plekanec could get us another.

If we do what Legoalie would love and trade both Plekanec and Markov and secure a 2015 first for each, we'd be well on our way.

The best thing that MB could do by the deadline is to trade DD. This guy is the single biggest anchor facing the Habs going forward, and is his contract extension last year is by far the GM's worst move. Nothing even comes close because every other bad move he's made can be easily fixed. This one can't, or so it appears. I would even sign 79 to a 4 year contract if it somehow meant that DD would be dealt by the deadline.

Poor Tavares. This has been an awful season for the Islanders. I thought the pending move to Brooklyn woulda have helped them keep guys.

Keep Pleks. Trade him when the draft is better.
