Trade Deadline Thread

You keep believing brother. I’ll gladly eat crow if they do something in the playoffs, but I am firmly in the camp that they need to do something at the deadline. Something more than a warm body to stick in the bottom 6.
Jeez ... when I'm the board optimist something is very, very off. You guys know that the Canes don't actually suck, right?

Arizona trades dmen Troy Stecher and Boston’s 2024 7th rounder to Edmonton for their 2027 4th rounder. This is the 3rd straight year he’s been traded at the deadline, in 2022 he went from Detroit to LA, in 2023 from Arizona to Calgary and then after re-signing with the Yotes as a free agent over the summer, they traded him again.

Didn’t say they sucked. But my opinion is they need more to compete for the cup.
Bingo. There’s a difference between sucking and disappointing. You can be disappointed they get washed out in the playoffs when you KNOW they’re a very good team and you also KNOW they have fatal flaws that will prevent them from raising the cup. Especially when those flaws are seemingly ignored.

And I’m the last person to say sell the future to go all in now but you gotta do something. The Panthers and Rangers will steal our lunch money as it sits now.

Canes are setting up to do SOMETHING tomorrow ... Raanta, DeAngelo and Lemiux all on waivers. None of them have much if any role to play going forward and none of them likely to be traded, so this would allow them to be sent down if not claimed.

Apparently the Vancouver flipping Lindholm rumors won't die. If they do, then there's some noise linking Lindy to Carolina in a 3 way deal with the Pens. Honestly, we need help at center ... so ... I wouldn't hate it.

That might lessen the assets the Canes trade away, in theory. Even that deal would be out of character for the Canes. Lindholm has also been not particularly good this season. That + RH faceoff would be helpful, and overall the lineup would be better adding Lindholm and subtracting...Fast? But Guentzel moves the needle more...

True ... but if you could add Lindy without paying full freight by leveraging the available cap space and letting Vancouver kick in the majority of the actual assets? It's worth the time for a discussion, for sure.

Duclair and a 2025 7th to Tampa. San Jose gets a 2024 3rd

Coyotes holding out Zucker and Dumba

Tampa with a smart move for the first time in a while. Duke was wasted in San Jose, but found his game again none the less. Plus, he's always been better in Florida.

With Waddell having saved some ammo and some cap space, I'm hoping they get another center of some kind today. Doesn't have to be a Top 6 guy, really. An impact 4th liner would be fine, if it's the right fit.

With the uncertainty around TDA on waivers and unhappy that he is not playing...I would take another depth D too! The Dylan Coghlan experiment as any depth option on D needs to be put to pasture...
