Trade Deadline Thread

Dumba to Tampa.
Hertl to Vegas
Roslovic to the Rangers

Hertl makes over $8 million for like another six or seven years...yikes.
San Jose retains 17% of Hertl’s salary and get a nice haul back; a 2025 1st rounder, 3rd rounders in 2025 and 2027 and prospect David Edstrom, who was Vegas’ 1st round pick in 2023. He’s a center, just turned 19 and is playing for Frolunda in Sweden and has 6 goals, 11 assists in 42 games.

The Dumba deal is him and a 2025 7th rounder to Tampa for a 2027 5th rounder.

TSN trade tracker says the Roslovic trade is for a conditional 2026 4th rounder. Don’t know what the conditions are though.

After trading for Jake Allen, the Devils finished remaking their goaltending options by sending Vitek Vanacek to San Jose for Kaapo Kahkonen.

Edit: Devils also send their 2025 7th rounder to San Jose

Kahkonen had been on a pretty good trajectory for a backup before his numbers hit a wall this season. Some of that is down to just hw bad San Jose is, of course. Both San Jose and Jersey have been tough on keepers for years now.

The Devils goalies have been an issue all season, but you can't tell me that losing Dougie Hamilton to injury, Ryan Graves to free agency and Damon Severson to trade hasn't had an overall impact on the amount of goals the Devils allow. They are playing TWO 20 year olds some nights. That isn't going to help your goaltending out.

Not disagreeing with you, but the bottom line is that all three of the Devils goalies this year have negative Goals Saved Above Expected. As a team, Daws, Schmid, and Vanacek have given up almost 18 more goals than expected.

That's even worse than the Canes (recipients of less-than-stellar goaltending across the entire season), where Perets, Martin, Andersen, Kotchetkov, and Raanta have given up about ten more than expected (nine of which are attributable to Raanta!).

It would help if they had a coach that recognizes that one of those 20 year old defensemen is significantly better than the other ... and it ain't the one named Hughes. It's been a fairly comprehensive mess up there this season.
