I like the Backes idea but he's just as bad, if not worse, than Plekanec in the playoffs. Also we would most likely need to add to the trade as I don't see the Blues going for a 1-1 swap.

BTW, although MB and MT are not required to be transparent to the media about their plans for 27, they look like a couple of idiots in how they publicly addressed his moving to center the last several months. Amateur hour.

Na, they probably told him in private that he needed to work on some things before playing centre, one was beefing up and getting stronger. With kids you never know if they will take you seriously. Seems like he did something right in the off season, because they didnt hesitate to change their minds.
 
There's a lot of weirdness with Chuckie, including dropping his agent, who then went to the media and declared 27 had a lot of growing up to do.

Hopefully, he'll pull a Seguin, score a bunch of points and nobody will give a shit about any of this crap.

And all this time I thought Bergevin saying Chuckie wouldn't play center was all part of the negotiation game in order to get the kid to sign for less.....turns out it's because Bergevin is an idiot.

He told 27 in June, before signing him, that he'd be playing center.

Why? As a business u want to use all the marketing leverage you've got at ur disposal. Why blow all ur load at the golf tournament, draw it out, get bang for the buck marketing wise.

Do we know that Plekanec is highly respected by the organization and will likely be resigned yet?

Still amazes me that otherwise intelligent people still think Plekanec will be dealt.
