Leafs acquire David Rittich from Calgary

I don’t love it either, but this is probably going too far in this assessment.

How so?

Rittich is a bad goalie who by the numbers isn't much better than Hutch. Career .906 for Hutch vs career .908 for Rittich. The goalie nerd stats like Rittich's career better than Hutch's, but still. It's not a huge upgrade. Rittich is a below average NHL goalie.

We're way up in 1st in our division, we could easily have run the risk of trading for a goalie from an American team and dealt with the quarantine.

Probably will lose one though if he adds a scorer. This is an expensive deadline. We need to win the cup now.

Yeah, I'm not saying we shouldn't trade a prospect.

Just pointing out that even with the draft pick capital we've used, Dubas has more bullets in the chamber to acquire guys.

All we were in the market for was a backup insurance policy. They don’t expect him to play. And getting a guy who could step in and be a starter probably wasn’t available or cost too much or both.

I think he might just. There may be a significant move to come. If it does, I don’t think another 1st exits. It’ll be a prospect or two.

So, considering what it cost for Hall versus what we paid for Foligno...

...Ullmark is going to get dealt to someone for a bag of chips and a rice crispy square with a bite out of it, isn't he?

I still trust the guy despite today’s oddities. Foligno may well be better for us than Hall, but it seems we could’ve easily added Hall too. So there has to be something else.

I dont even know who needs a goalie, but this is something the Oilers should look at
