Leafs' Prospect/Marlies Discussion Thread!

another good game from Petruzelli.

.953 thru 2gms now.

man would it be nice to be able to bring up a goalie with an actual good save percentage in the AHL.

I'm not suggesting that Engvall will get pushed out of the lineup for Steeves. But that he could lose his spot on the 3rd line to steeves. He would then push one of the craptacular 4th line wingers we have out of the lineup.
I'm entirely okay with that. I'm always in favor of good players coming in and bumping bad players out, and if Steeves deserves the third line over Engvall, I'm all for it.

Sadly, like bad sushi, useless Toronto players always seem to come back up. Hutch, Marincin, Simmonds, Cliffy and a multitude of others.

Organizational fringe players are thing in every org though. People make too much about them "sticking around" Even Marincin, was only around the Leafs for parts of 5 seasons and only a regular in one of the five and that year was our tank for Auston year.

#NotSayinJustSayin

Fwiw, super early reshuffling of my list

1) Robertson
2) Niemela
3) Knies

- No changes here, though Niemela is off to a slow start (so was Knies until now, right now). Robertson is a stud and will shortly graduate from this list if this keeps up.

4) Steeves
5) Hirvonen
6) Holmberg

- Yeah, I'm moving Steeves up. Early season heater might not be indicative of what he is (PPG+ in the AHL at 22 would be a nice, nice sign). Hirvonen off to a slow start in Liiga this season though might be starting to show signs of limited offensive update, despite how good he's looked playing against junior age comp.

7) Minten
8) Voit
9) Kokkonen
10) Moldenhauer

- Voit and Moldenhauer are no longer interchangeable and deserves to start challenging to be considered a real prospect with real top 6 upside. Want to see what Minten looks like over 10-15 games before I consider that swap though.

11) Villeneuve
12) Douglas
13) Tverberg

Unchanged

i got villeneuve ahead of kokkonen.

or maybe it's just drop kokkonen down.

he looked pretty bad in camp.

I have a soft spot for young euro defenders that were playing pro effectively at 17-18 yrs old. They just have a habit of turning into good NHL defenders. For now I'm believing in the profile more than the player.

That may explain Niemela over Knies on your list.

I think Knies got so much attention and has such an awesome YouTube resume, that most have started to think he's overhyped.

I'm actually starting to think he's underhyped, the more I see what he can do.

Nah, Niemela is a right shot defender who did literally historic shit in Liiga last year, a league that has produced a lot of good defenders. Knies a winger who had a mediocre season in the NCAA.

I almost always prioritize age appropriate production in professional leagues over junior leagues.
