My point was last year, in a very rare situation for the NHL, the 2 most talented teams met in the finals. That's good for the NHL. It happens much more frequently in other sports. This was back to the norm.
Considering who Florida beat in the first round I'd call them a cinderella team. They also made so many changes in the offseason (Not in terms of # of players, but in terms of players that played big minutes for them).
NHL's entire system is set-up for fake parity. I think fans are more drawn to powerhouses in the finals. The referring is so atrocious. But it leads to "Surprises" in the NHL that I guess excite fans for a few minutes but doesn't excite them enough to tune in.
There's no pressure to call the rules in the playoffs since people who run the NHL are obsessed with parity.
