2019-20 Canes Miscellaneous News Thread

Meh ... best guess, the Canes will need a regional draw to fill the stadium. That's a bunch of seats, folks.

Could be worse... could be the Bruins, giving Dondon an excuse to bring out the Whalers sweaters for one more game.

Make it the Red Wings. They'll bring in lots of people wearing red and it should be an easy win for our boys

Ugh ... those green things on a sunny day? Barf. Personally, if the owner wants to get nostalgic for an outdoor game, I'd suggest late stage Whalers blue uniforms. Those were sweet.

You are nuts, JB! The rookie era Ron Francis greens were the sweetest of all. If this is something that you feel the need to argue, get your butt down to the Orlando area and think about how wrong you are.

I don't dislike the greens ... I dislike the idea of the greens on an outdoor rink in the glare of a winter day in Raleighwood. Plus, those navy blue unis were nice. I know the team sucked for the entirely of that period, but I always liked that uniform.

Haula not practicing today. Hopefully it’s just a maintenance day, details later from Maniscalco, et al.

edit: it’s just a maintenance day.

If anyone is considering a subscription to The Athletic, they’re running a half price special.

If the Caps are not in the outdoor game then it will be Pens, Rangers, Philly, Chicago or some other big market team. Certainly it won't be Buffalo as everybody knows many of their fans are jerks and cause trouble.

Somebody with the club muttered something under their breath about Huala's schedule being restricted when he came back. I think they're planning to give him at least one day of just physical therapy every week where possible.

Like anybody in the league office gives a crap about that.

It'll be a team that can put butts in seats and is willing to participate in an annoying spectacle. That's almost certainly going to be Washington or maybe Nashville given how many tickets their people bought for the Cotton Bowl game.

Buffalo is a small market anyway .

I am OK with Nashville but there are 3 issues with Nashville - game is not on Jan 1st, do fans want to travel again ,and Dallas is more attractive to visitors than Raleigh.

Is it? I've been to Dallas numerous times and it ain't exactly thrill city. Texas has plenty of cool cities ... Austin, San Antonio, heck even El Paso ... but Houston and Dallas are just big, sprawling, generic cities.

And it's not like this game is going to be held this season or anything. I assume Nashville fans would probably going be up for a 6 hour drive sometime next winter, having shaken off the road weariness of taking a cheap flight to Dallas for New Years.

I'm 99% confident it won't be Nashville. The league is going to want a marquee team or a divisional rival. I would be shocked if it isn't WSH, PIT, PHL or NYR.

I think the Caps make the most sense. If the NHL is paying attention to last year's 1st round playoffs, the last exhibition game this season and the 2 regular season games so far this season, picking the Caps to be the opponent should be almost a no brainer. Division rival, some bad blood now, and the Caps are about as regional as you can get for the Canes.

Marek Malik’s son just entered the Canada-Czech Republic WJC game. He’s their 3rd goalie, the first 2 are injured. He’s 17, a 2020 draft eligible and plays in the Czech 2nd division
