2019-20 Miscellaneous NHL/Hockey News Thread

It's crazy that the only Michigan based college is at #16. There's a few in the honorable mention part of the poll though

Wolfpack won the ACCHL championship for third year running I read elsewhere.

Go Pack!

The Red Wings have been eliminated from playoff contention. Wow that's early! They are 20 points behind Ottawa ... OTTAWA! for 15th in the conference. Their goal differential is -110. That's more than twice the next worst team.

On the other side of the coin, the Milwaukee Bucka already clinched a spot in the NBA playoffs. They’re 49-8. If they lose out, they’ll have 33 losses and the 9th place team in the Eastern Conference has 36. Their magic number to clinch the division is 9; 2nd place Indiana has 24 losses.

Liverpool will likely be clinching the Premiere League title shortly as well. It's been a good year for runaway champions ... and runaway losers too. Go Wings, go.

I tuned in Monday and saw Liverpool play WestCentraEastlHamshirefordtonontheThamesfort United. West Ham went up 2-1. Then West Ham looked at the scoreboard and completely caved in. I know next to nothing about Futbool, but I've never seen a team go from playing so welly to so poorly so quickly. (I'm more about alliteration than grammar) They literally turned on a dime. West Ham might as well have put me in the game. It was clear it was over when Liverwurst tied the game. You knew they were going to win.

Steven Stamkos will have surgery on Monday for a core muscle injury. He’ll be out 6-8 weeks.

The Islanders will leave the Barclays Center early and play this year's playoffs and all of next season at the Nassau Coliseum. New York state spent $6 million upgrading it to NHL standards.

Our game against them on March 22nd will be the last Islanders game played at Barclays Center.

In terms of arenas $6m is nothing. What did it need? A pressure wash and a coat of paint?

That’s on top of the $165 million spent after the Isles moved out. Bettman wouldn‘t let them play there full time without some other upgrades. Even with them, Bettman said a deep playoff run might result in tents set up for media because the facilities inside are substandard.

Amazed they didn’t just put that toward a new arena.

They needed to spend the $165 million to renovate Nassau into a functioning structure for concerts, UFC and other events. That was when the Isles new arena was still a pipe dream and before their relationship with Barclays Center turned bad.
