2019-20 Miscellaneous NHL/Hockey News Thread

Yeah that was the “elimination” Wednesday they were touting until the Habs pulled it out. Unfortunately they lost game 6.

Kinkaid is garbage and gone anyway.
Oh ... he's been garbage for a while, but I seem to remember a lot of your crowd were pretty happy to get him last summer. If he's out of contract now, then Allen is a decent veteran backup for Price.

Rierden is by all accounts a good defensive assistant, so he was never going to be a bread line or anything. And God knows the Pens need some help organizing that back end. I'm a little surprised that Vellucci agreed to be an assistant since he's resisted that move pretty hard in the past, but he's a Rutherford guy so maybe Jimmy was just finally able to talk him into it.

When Sullivan inevitably gets fired, Vellucci might get promoted instead of Reirden. Like you said, he’s Rutherford for life.

Yeah ... I think most of us here figured he was a "coach in waiting" when he took that lateral move to the Pens organization. Sullivan managed to turn in a real solid year with a real weird roster though, before then I figured one bad month might be the end of him in Pittsburgh.

If any of you want to move to just outside of DC and buy Rierdan's old house, here's the info...

A business friend of mine was the previous owner who sold it to Rierdan!

They tightened up their game when Hutchinson was inserted into the starting lineup. The difference in their team D play is quite apparent.

This. Not at all convinced that Hutchinson is nearly as big a factor as the whole team remembering to defend their own end a little ... and not to try 10,000 home run breakout passes in a game.

Sean Couturier is out for the Flyers tonight, Oskar Lindblom is in, for the first time since being diagnosed with cancer in December.

And we have another game 7. Flyers beat the Islanders in the 2nd OT. Mayfield broke his stick at the offensive blue line and the Flyers took advantage going the other way.
