2020-21 Season and Draft Discussion

Don't care enough tbh. When I mentioned it I got shot down.

People stop caring when they feel marginalized so **** it, what's the point.
Wait, you've been marginalized? I know I'm the one that brought it up again, but I had totally forgotten about how it turned out before and that it's a pretty big problem to let teams reboot.

We tried something that didn't work out and then decided not to do it again. I mean that's a pretty obvious thing for a league to do. And I don't see how it's a slight at you in any way.

Yeah shot down without a discussion prior basically running from the issue is not marginalizing. You're right.

this is the way it is so tough is what I'm hearing and that's your prerogatives. I don't have to accept it though.

yeah, it's not anything to do with Habsy at all. We tried it once and it was just not a good idea.

I mean, if we had a situation with a couple of really awful bottom teams in the future who had no hope, we might have to reconsider. But Habsy's team looks pretty good to me. The teams at the bottom are all solid. The dispersal is just about evening the playing field for the new managers.

Even the playing field? Lol. They're getting better feams than half the league.

I wasn't around to see this fiasco that happened before I joined but that shouldn't preclude newer owners the same advantages current owners received especially considering that were playing against those teams. We all pony up the same amount.

You guys pretending not to get this is very GOP I must say.

And as for this, as I said someone (may have been you, I honestly don't remember) asked about it, I said I leaned no, and that was it. Nobody mentioned it again. If you had pushed the issue we could have discussed it further, but this is what we would have argued.

If we didn't have the dispersal and just assigned 1 of these 3 teams to each of the 3 new managers, they would still have had good teams because they were inheriting good rosters. This is just a way of making it fun for the new managers and ensuring that 1 of them doesn't get stuck with a weak team (if there even was one, I didn't look at the rosters that closely, but that's the idea).

Well it would be too bad if you left, Habsy. Your team has some really nice pieces and you could probably capitalize on some of your older pieces by trading with the newer managers that are building win now teams.

I get your point and it sucks sitting on the sidelines for these things.

Also stop overpaying for habs players lol.

I was the one who asked first on July 31st if we were going to allow managers to participate in the dispersal draft or not.

I wanted to know to see if my buddy Blueshirt would have interest in participating if it was allowed, because I thought he probably had the toughest team in the league to start with.

Middle pack team aging out with no blue chip prospects and no quality picks for the following 2 drafts.
Bull had trade 3X 1st round picks to HP prior to quitting the league in some of the worst trades I’ve seen in the history of FI Dynasty :

2019 1st (Bull)
2020 2nd (Bull)
Kevin Fiala
Christian Fisher

For

Jarred Spurgeon
Nick Foligno

That trade for Spurgeon on a team that was going nowhere made absolutely no sense.

Then he acquired Rakell/2nd/2nd for Tuch/1st/1st

Anyway, nobody said anything about it, and when Axl got to get the ball rolling almost 2 months after on September 25th, he mentioned he was leaning on no and that was it, no more comments.

Also talking to Blueshirt, he was happy with the moves he made and he was more interested in continuing to build his team than participating in the Dispersal Draft.

Now in the last two weeks when Deckie started to take care of business, Habsy asked if he could join with some sort of smiley/emoji

I personally interpreted it as half-joking / half-serious, to which Deckie replied he thought it was a bit early to hit the reset button on a team that’s three years old, and said Habsy should probably stick to his team building plan.

It’s hard to always understand the tone when reading posts, but again Habsy it did look to me like you were half-joking / half-serious.

I also think Deckie’s analysis is on point about the failures of the last Dispersal Draft, but obviously the issue would have been discussed if you’d pushed the discussion further.

I do think you would have had a great point in proposing that teams who’ve done it once should not be allowed to do it again, and maybe give the opportunity to team who have a good reasons to participate.

I would think explained like that it would probably have been hard to refuse it to Blueshirt for example if he’d wanted to do it, but then again it opens the door to conflict, or maybe a Jonas Poll, if we decide case by case instead of a clear clean rule.

I’ve always felt that people in this league were open and receptive to ideas and opinions, as I’ve never felt dismissed or marginalized as a new guy, quite the opposite.

I think to have Habsy in FORUM ICE Dynasty League is pretty cool and I hope that you stay for the long run.

Appreciate that you took the time to post all that but I don't do FI for just me, I do it for everyone.

That said, I've made my point. In the future I'd hope consideration will be made for all aspects instead of "it was a pain in the ass so this is the way it is ". It brings up another wonder of mine, how on earth is dropping players to a pool and drafting a big fiasco?

Anyway, it's all good, not important enough to continue debating. I'll just have to build a team and beat you that way.

Glad you're sticking around Habsy. I think you have built a solid group... You could go either way right now.

I think I have strong prospects, especially on D, but you know how that does, it'll be years before they're all in the regular lineup.
