Hmm...well...I wouldn't have made that trade if I was the Habs, but who knows. Maybe Josh Anderson will battle back and end up a 30 goal guy.
Anderson is ridiculously overrated. He's 2-freaking-6 and his best NHL showing was upper 20s in goals and around a half a point a game. I mean, I get that he's a big boy but there's got to be something other than that. Add in major shoulder surgery and I really don't get that THIS is the return Montreal gets from Domi. I mean, who knows? Maybe the big fella spends his time off getting into stupid good shape and actually has the career year everyone seems to assume that he's already had and Montreal comes out ahead on this deal. I have my doubts.

BTW ... queue the Montreal fans to come tell me 1,000 reasons I'm wrong on the above at some point.

Preds put Kyle Turris and Steven Santini on unconditional waivers for buyout purposes. Turris has 4 years left at $6 million per year, Santini has 1 year left at $1.4 million AAV, $1.65 million actual.

Preds trade Nick Bonino and the #37 and #70 pick in the 2020 draft to the Wild for Luke Kanin and the #101 pick in the 2020 draft.

Pens trade Matt Murray to Sens for Jon Gruden (former 4th round pick currently in college) and 2nd Rounder

With other moves necessary, are the canes a player for Taylor hall? Should they be? Do we bring back wall marks for depth?

Canes are not a player for Taylor Hall and unless he is willing to play for $2 million per year, we shouldn't be interested.

Jesse Puljujarvi is coming back to Edmonton, he signed a 2 year/$2.35 million contract. It pays $900k in the first year, $1.45 million the 2nd year.

Max Domi signed a 2 year/$10.6 million contract with Columbus. He gets $4.6 million in the first year, $6 million the second.

Vegas signed Chandler Stephenson to a 4 year/$11 million contract. He gets $1.625 million thr first year, $3.025 the 2nd year and then $100k increases the 3rd and 4th years.

Deciphering this, the Panthers non-tendered Wallmark. He was essentially on a NHL minimum contract. As it stands now, I don’t see a place for him.

Not a bad list of non-tendered RFA's besides Wallmark. Athanasiou, Duclair, Verhaege, Simon, Hinostrosa, Perlini, Jankowski, Kahun.

That all adds to the UFA pool where a lot of those lower level player are going to find not a lot of offers for not a lot of money.

Athanasiou coming off a $3 million AAV deal. Verhaeghe coming off a minimum, 2 way deal. Duclair $1.65 million AAV. Hinostroza $1.5 million AAV. Perlini $874k AAV. Some of these guys are going to have to take minimums or camp invites.

I'll pitch ... no, no, and no.

Hall is a luxury item unless you're willing to build the whole team around him, so ...screw that. And as much as I love Wally, he's not adding enough to the picture next season to push out other guys.

Verhaege and Duclair are probably going to get deals, and I would guess somebody will be dumb enough to bite on Athanasiou's so-called potential. Otherwise ... yeah, bad timing for you guys.

If Geekie had come in and flailed around or looked overwhelmed, you could make a case to bring Wallmark back, he’s a good 4C who can move up if necessary for short spells. But he didn’t. And RBA had Geekie on the PP too.

It didn't help that Wally didn't really step up in his second year. He was a decently productive bottom six player but he didn't really grow that much as a player after that solid first season. Then they just never found a role for him in Florida. Shame.

The Trochek trade looks worse and worse for the Panthers by the minute...Huala and Wally both likely walking away for nothing and all you have left are a pair of prospects in Priskie and Luostarenen who are certainly far from the top of the Kitty Cats prospect pile.
