2021 Playoff Thread | Round 1 | Habs/Leafs

Also, getting two superstar players would greatly help this team, but ask Deadmonton how that's working for them.

The way the contracts have been given out and the length? There is no quick fix. It's going to be a long, GOT-style winter.
not if they act now

you could trade petry, toffoli, anderson, gallagher, etc this summer
MB isnt unigue is his love for older players

Ideally, retain a third of Price’s contract and ask him to waive to Seattle.

trade Weber while Vancouver still thinks he’s good.

Resign Danault (yeah I know there are haters) to not more than $4k x 3 or let him walk.

Resign Perry at $1m if he takes it. He’s about the only enjoyment I get some games.

Jettison Chiarot (hopefully taken in the expansion draft).

Maybe retain Merrill. He’s serviceable.

Up front you lose Tatar, Drouin, Armia, Byron (if possible), likely Danault. If it’s a ransom I trade Gallagher out west too.

Suzuki
Toffoli
Anderson
KK
Evans
Poehling
Ylonen

moving forward with addition of younger talent. Let them grow together and tank for Bedard.

i resign perry only to trade him at the deadline

dano i let walk
tatar i let walk

gallgher i trade for the best offer
weber i see if he is going to retire soon or not
toffolli i trade if you can get something good -other wise keep
anderson i trade for the best offer
petry i trade for the best offer

i see if i can get anything for 8 or 44 - if so trade them
see if you can do anything to get rid of price
i would keep allen for now....
and then i tank like hell

edit: coming out of a pandemic the fans are going to be there for a few years even if the team stinks
now is the time

I like the re-reset

if our pipeline is half as good as promised, we're a playoff team in 2-3 years

It’s along the lines of what I would do. I would also ensure each D pairing had at least one puck mover on it.

Right off the bat, Tatar and Danault are gonzo. That will take care of itself.

Problem: we don’t want lose Allen but just might. Actually, it’s probable.

The main issue is the train wreck in D with this Copernican Hommage to the Brothers Hatcher.

Forwards, I would keep Armia, Byron and Lekhonen. Perry, yeah, if he’s interested.

So, if the new DG could somehow keeps Allen and unload Weber or Gallagher, I would consider that a first step.

Seems unlikely, I think Weber limps through another year and retires before his cash salary drops to $3M.

I think you could trade Petry with relative ease. Toffoli could be traded.

Anderson & Gallagher, though? I'm not as convinced.

Whoever's in charge this summer, whether it's The Charlatan or his eventual replacement, needs to make wholesale changes.

I think you can easily. MB is a dime a dozen so you know others will want them too. Teams will be losing players to Seattle.

I don't think a full rebuild happens (it would be too good) but it if it did, I can't see Price wanting to stick around while a bunch of Jordan Harrises Norlinders and Guhles learn how to play D
