Interesting to hear Kane's reaction to hearing about the Tarasenko trade. Sounds like that's where he thought he'd end up.
Yeah, it did. But with the lackluster way he's played all season I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up going nowhere. Or worse, back home to Buffalo for an underwhelming prospect or a bad contract.Interesting to hear Kane's reaction to hearing about the Tarasenko trade. He owns the jersey, he has to get some use from it.Early Saturday afternoon scene in the NoMich household: watching the Islanders at Canadiens game and when the Islanders score, a dude in a Florida Panthers jersey leaps up and celebrates. Why such randomness?
I know the SPHL is the wild freaking west of minor pro hockey but holy crap that's not great. To just no-show on people who had pad actual money for tickets? Nah. Sounds like Vermilion County will be folding mid-season, which does happen ... but, still. Woof.I somehow missed this story from last weekend…
Minor league hockey team doesn’t show up for game in ‘very weird’ scene
After a 2-minute delay of game penalty and 5-minute waiting period, the game was declared a forfeit.trib.al
From what I read, they’re still looking for that, or 2 firsts and other inducements. Presumably, they’d take Clarke in lieu of a first.Hmm ... weren't we assured last year that Chychrun would command a 1st rounder, a top prospect and various other inducements? That said, Clarke is a real deal prospect and also a defenseman. Honestly, if that dude pops in the league this might be a real bad trade for LA in about 5 years. Chychrun is what he is at this point ... a second or third pairing D who can give you some offense but not mostly had the one big season and has since reverted to mean. In the meantime, they really needed the help on the blueline, so LA won't be complaining. Chychrun gives them Doughty insurance if the veteran gets hurt again and the left side of their D is kind of a train wreck. The ghost of Alex Edler is their best current left-sider ... by miles.
It's fairly simple ... they signed him to a market rate contract right before he had that one stupid offensive year. That made his perceived value WAY out of line with his actual value. And since Arizona are in perpetual rebuild mode, when they get the chance to leverage a player for a big haul they kind of have to go for it. They don't HAVE to move him, but they will because it's good asset management.Educate me on Chychrun: why exactly does Arizona have to move him?
Are those the same people who couldn't stop talking about what a great deadline coup Florida made when they blew a first round pick on Ben Freaking Chairot? Because there are a lot of idiots saying things at deadline time and nobody ever seems to call them on their BS.I've heard a few guys say he's a #1 d man on most NHL teams. That's ludicrous. Maybe on the bad teams...
