2022-2023 NHL Misc. Thread

Several different people had opinions of him on XMs multiple NHL shows. Some say he's a good 2nd pairing guy, but NOT a #1. A few guys chimed in that he's a #1. So many people commented, I don't recall who said what. He'd solidly bolster our 2nd or 3rd pairing though.

Just like Staal, Martinook and Fast are stapled together, so are Pesce and Skjei. I think RBA would rather cut off his left arm than separate them. He’s signed for 1 year beyond Pesce and Skjei.

Sidney Crosby picked up his first career game misconduct on Saturday night. He was cross checked by the Kings Mikey Anderson and, as Anderson was escorted to the penalty box, he and Crosby started shoving each other. They both picked up 10 minute misconducts for that and then Crosby apparently said one of the magic words and his night was over...
I'm resisting the urge to post the relevant clip from Bull Durham.

Scratch Ryan O’Reilly off the available list. In a 3 team trade, the Blues sent ROR to the Wild for forward Josh Pillar, who was a 2021 4th round pick, currently playing for Saskatoon in the WHL. The Blues retained 50% of his salary. The Wild then sent ROR to the Leafs for a 2025 4th rounder and retained 50% of the remaining salary.

Leafs got Acciari too from St. Louis. St. Louis got the Leafs 2023 1st, 2024 2nd, Ottawa's 2023 3rd, Mikhail Abramov and Adam Gaudette

Kings goalie Phoenix Copley was given a match penalty for fighting and not removing his blocker. He punched Anaheims Frank Vatrano several times while never removing the blocker which is in violation of NHL rule 51 - ‘Goalies use their equipment to punch opposing player’

We officially welcome the Wild to the selling cap space for draft picks club. Seth Jarvis says hey.

FWIW, Toronto just threw the draft pick farm at a guy who almost certainly will end up being their third line center. Being in gotta win now mode with their goaltending is ... a choice.

The Leafs definitely are not worse after that deal and really just traded picks. Good trade for them.
I agree that they got better, but now they have nothing left in the asset tank to address goaltending ... if that's even a possibility at this point. IMO if they hope to beat Tampa, that's gonna be a problem.
