2022-23 Canes Misc. Thread

He's that potential high upside kid we always shoot for. Not a "safe pick", he is the kid you hope turns into a 70-80 point guy BUT might end up like Dominik Bokk and end up not being an NHLer. He wasn't a reach at 30th overall.

Going to be a Freshman at Maine, we will see how things go away from the BCHL.
This. I do think this one has a little more proof of concept than Bokk did, but it's still absolutely an upside pick. For people who understand how the lower 5 picks in the first round of any draft normally go, that's not a hard sell. For people convinced that you draft based only on the immediate needs of your NHL squad? Well, they hate this kind of pick.

One other thing to note ... I picked this up on one of The Arthletic's hockey podcasts ... is that not all of the public rating services are even ranking based on the same basic factors. Some of them rank with potential/upside as a driver, and some really only rank the prospects based on where they are right freaking now with only a passing glance given to development potential. Which is insane considering these are 18 year olds.

Our 2nd round pick has a name that Hey Kurtz would love and he’ll fit right in, having scored on a Michigan. Felix Unger Sorum is a 5’11” forward from Norway, playing for Leksand Jr. in Sweden.

Canes 3rd round pick 71 overall (via Flyers, TDA trade): Traded to SJ for picks #94 and #100

Pick #94 is our own 3rd round pick, which we traded to SJ as part of the Brent Burns trade
Pick #100 is SJ's 4th round pick.

Canes 3rd round pick 94 overall (Via Canes (Burns trade) via SJ (for Flyers pick #71 overall)): Jayden Perron RW 5'9" 163 (Chicago USHL)

Canes 4th round pick 100 overall (via SJ, for Flyers Pick #71 overall): Alexander Rykov RW 6' 176 (Chelyabinsk KHL)

Canes 3rd round pick 94 overall (Via Canes (Burns trade) via SJ (for Flyers pick #71 overall)): Jayden Perron RW 5'9" 163 (Chicago USHL)
He’s headed to North Dakota to play with Jackson Blake. He played 1 season for Brock Sheahan with the Steel.

Canes 5th round pick 139 overall (via Canucks, Bear/Lane Pederson trade) Charles-Alexis Legault RHD 6'3" 207 Quinnipiac U

Canes 6th round pick 163 overall (via Blackhawks, trade for Canes 2022 6th round pick, 188 overall) Timur Mukhanov LW 5'7" 178 Omsk KHL

Whoever runs the glephockey Twitter account says he had Nadeau, Perron, Rykov and Mukhanov as first rounders.
