2024 Draft

he was probably always so much better than those he played, he got into bad habits, and I am not sure he has recovered from falling to fourth
Yeah, those playoffs with Kingston before the draft, it was a real shocker how ineffective he was. Even his much hyped "2-way" play was disappointing. Also watched his entire playoffs with Coachella, Seattle's AHL team. 24 games right to the finals, and he was even worse. Only 2 goals. Someone commented on another forum that he was from the same hometown and knew him and his family well. This was also just before the draft, and he was sounding an alarm that teams should avoid picking him with a high pick. Said that he was one of those kids who had matured way ahead of his peers, already had a beard at 16 etc, and now everyone caught up and even passed him. So he lost that big advantage.

Zadina at least had upside. Even if he is a bust.
Zadina cost himself some money terminating that Detroit contract. He bet on himself in San Jose but it isnt paying off. I guess he is the opposite of KK.

Speaking of drafts. So glad we didn't draft Nate Danielson. Wings took him 9th and he is doing nothing offensively.
Not 20/20 hindsight. I almost fell out of my chair when people were saying he was worthy of a top-10 pick and then the Red Wings actually fucking took him.

A masterclass in wasting assets.

He was always - always - projected as a good third liner at best. If you think I was mad when we took Beck early in the second, holy shit you'd think Sal's love for Barron would be a plea for peace in comparison if the Habs did that.

Future Consideration's updated top-100. Notable name that I completely forgot about because I thought he was only eligible next year, but Saku Koivu's son is draft eligible.
Want him.

Read a piece on him yesterday.

Would be worth a third rounder. Or maybe even if we could pick up a second.

I watch hockey for the drama, the stories.

Winning / losing always happens. But the stories carry me further.

When my wife was in chemo, I constantly watched that standing O Saku got when he came back.

I would go to Montreal to watch a game if I knew both Koivu’s would be there.

Best Habs moments of the last thirty years?

3 beating boston in 03

2 The cup run - MAN that was fucking fun!

1 Koivu coming back.

A cup win would still be #2 on that list.

I also watch to be an optimist. Am convinced that they have a shot until they are mathematically eliminated.

Once every ounce of possibility is gone, then I leave too.

I’m too much focused on the moment to enjoy the cynical game of imagined future teams.

I give it all what is here now. When there is no longer any possibility of winning in a mathematical sense, I go do other shit.

Too few hours in the day than for me to watch someone else’s kid develop and live their dream.
