2024 Draft

I wouldn't take him, personally. If this team really wants him, I'd rather they try trading down instead of taking him at 7.

I'd rather take Taj Iginla or even Liam Greentree over him, but even then, taking any of those three at #7 seems mighty early.

If Eiserman is still there when we pick I’m grabbing him.
100%

The only thing that would stop me from taking him is if he's uncoachable. If he's "only" hard to coach, I take him without blinking.

I still have a hard time believing Eiserman's going to drop to 7.

Corey Pronman's mid-season report on Michael Brandsegg-Nygard:

Michael Brandsegg-Nygard is the clear best prospect Norway has ever produced for the NHL Draft. He has been very good at the Swedish junior level although his play versus men has been less consistent. He is a well-rounded forward but I don't think any aspect of his game gets you truly excited. He's a good skater. He has strong puck skills. He has great a shot and is often a threat to score from range. His frame is average-sized, but he plays hard and has physicality in his game. He thinks the game well and sees plays develop, but I don't think his playmaking is his main asset. Brandsegg-Nygard has a game that should lend itself to success versus men, eventually as a good NHL forward and potentially in a top six.

We’ll see. I think that Celebrini, Lindstrom and Demidov will be drafted in the top five so, depending on what happens with the d-men, we might have the choice of Eiserman, Catton and Connolly, all of whom should eventually be able to play on Dach or Suzuki’s wing. Catton is my least favorite choice of those three. He’s a string bean.

Catton is hell of a player , Connolly is barely 160 pounds

Ironically Connelly reminds me a lot of Zegras. Similar frame, high skill but knocks on questionable motor and defensive play.

Eiserman has been criticized for a lot of the same issues as well.

Going to watch Lindstrom and McKenna today. Anybody else on medicine hat or Edmonton worth paying attention to?

Yeah that's what we need more of . . . D. No. We need to get a projected top 6 forward with our first rounder. All payers have flaws. Caufield has plenty of flaws . . . he's still a top 6 forward.
Most of our youth D are third pair guys except Guhle

So now are are banking on Reinbacher , Mailloux and Hutson to be better

Nabbing a stud D if he is available isnt far fetched

Edmonton has three draft eligible players:

Adam Jecho & Gavin Hodnett are posisbly mid-to-late round picks. Rhys Pederson likely isn't getting drafted, but still.

Medicine Hat has Tomas Mrsic, a mid-to-late round pick in this year's draft.

But Lindstrom & McKenna are the two you should be watching above all else.

Yes, that's what we're banking on, which is reasonabel, since they were high draft picks - Hutson likely would have been but for his size.

Thanks. I'll focus on those two for sure. See if any of those other players jump out.

Oil kings are funny. Bottom feeder and very few young players.

I did notice Joe Iginla (15 year old) with 3 points in 3 games. I assume he was an emergency call up and not actually going to be playing. Not sure if that is another jarome kid.

Still early for most of them. Need a couple to become top pair types. Also need to identify which to trade.
