2024 Draft

Thanks. I'll focus on those two for sure. See if any of those other players jump out.

Oil kings are funny. Bottom feeder and very few young players.

I did notice Joe Iginla (15 year old) with 3 points in 3 games. I assume he was an emergency call up and not actually going to be playing. Not sure if that is another jarome kid.
Yup, he is. He won't be on the Oil Kings' roster, though. You should keep an eye on him next season, though. Early first round pick in the WHL.

He is playing.

And McKenna just scored from the goal line... 10 seconds into his first shift.

Still early for most of them. Need a couple to become top pair types. Also need to identify which to trade.
True , but I have seen enough of those mentioned to be nothing more than third pair guys , so onto the the phase of prospects

Oh, interesting.

And yeah, Gavin McKenna is amazing. Already one of the best players in the WHL and he just turned 16 six weeks ago.

Most of our youth D are third pair guys except Guhle

So now are are banking on Reinbacher , Mailloux and Hutson to be better

Nabbing a stud D if he is available isnt far fetched
Calm down, all of our Ds are too early in their development to know yet. But we have a lot of playing cards on D. We have nothing up front. Is Mesar really our best F prospect?? Come on.

McKenna had a hat trick. Plays the point on the PP and was not all that involved in the PP. Is all over the ice though. He skating isn't exactly smooth but he out raced guys and is pretty quick.

Iginla was cool to see. Two goals. His second was a snipe. He works his ass off. Pretty damn good for only 15 years old. Oil kings had another underage guy. His name is literally Toogood.

Looked it up. Apparently Lindstrom is hurt. Week to week.

2 of those 4 mentioned wont be Habs long term and a good bet that one of Logan , DR or Hutson wont pan out

If the right forward is there with our pick go for it , but not at the expense of a stud D if the gap is obvious

Why is there a “good bet” that one of those three won’t pan out? Because you say so? But I do agree that if all of Celebrini, Demidov, Lindstrom, Eiserman, Connolly and Catton are gone by our pick, which is highly unlikely, I would draft a D, probably Zeev Buium, if he’s still on the board. The good news is that we will be able to draft an excellent prospect, but probably fkr the last time for a while, so we can’t afford to blow it.

Because history has shown that prospects follow that pattern of panning out

Your right they cant fuck this pick up ...might be our last time to draft this high

But you can for a group of players.

The likeliest scenario is that some turn into real pros, but some do not. We just don’t know who that will be, which aligns with your point. This matters if you are trying to fill several positions, and there is a chance you wind up with a weak link or a hole in the line up that forces additional use of trade capital.

The least likely scenarios are the extremes (all or nothing), but they are not zero probabilities either. The Braves pitching staff in the 90s and Timmins’ draft track record are testament to that.

History is not a good indicator unless it's the prospects history. Sure you always take the side with higher odds to convince yourself you're right but dude, enough with the passing off opinion as fact. It's tiresome in a discussion and creates circular "logic"

All three of those players will make the NHL and stay there for awhile. Might not be with the Habs but all three prospects are rated as NHL players.

All I said was those 4 for me are nothing more than 3rd pair whoever stays ( I see 2 gone )

That “stud D” isn’t a guarantee either. We have enough D prospects that even if some don’t pan out, we should still be able to have a solid D. The same can’t be said about our forwards and there will definitely be good forwards available at our turn.

Wait, Guhle, Hutson, Mailloux and Reinbacher are nothing more than 3rd pair, and 2 of them are goners?? Is that what you’re saying?

No, not those guys

Barron, Wifi, Harris , Struble ....... I see 2 gone and third pair whoever stays

Guhle .....2nd pair if he can stay healthy and be more consistent

I expected a big improvement this year , actually regressed IMO

DR , Hutson , Mailloux and possible top pick , to try and develop a top pair
