Around the League: 2019-2020 Regular Season

It's cool that two Canadian cities got picked....only a few weeks ago it seemed like it would only be US cities....how things have changed in a month

Obviously, it doesn't change anything for us fans where they play....but it's still a nice injection of income for those 2 cities after harsh times. I'd rather Canadian cities get the money, rather than US cities (hotels, food, etc).

(even though most hotels are not owned by Canadian compagnies).

I'm betting they open the season with the Winter Classic on January 1st, 2021. That is if COVID gets under control which may not. You can't use hub cities for a full season, that just won't happen as the amount of money lost will be staggering.

a near 40% exchange rate played a key role , league just save tens of millions

Good point, forgot about the exchange rate. They will save a bundle on housing/food/other costs.

what are your odds of

A ....start the playoffs

B..... start but dont end
for this year?

i think they will start
and 50/50 they finish

but unless they are doing a hub city thing for all of next season i do not see it even starting it

Quite frankly, it looks like the NHL has been as thorough possible trying to get this thing off the ground. With some luck and discipline, it's possible that they'll see this through until the end of the playoffs. That said, it also depends on how they'll bulldoze through if a star player or half a team gets infected. There is only so much that even the most prepared people in the world can plan for.

The draft lottery is still idiotic though. I wonder what the plan is for that #1 pick if they end up cancelling the playoffs sometime after the 1st round ends.

It will take Dryden 6 weeks to finish his chat if he gets testified

Dude can take a sentence and turn it into a 60 page speech

I finally got around to reading "The Game" during the lockdown. It's a great read for any hockey fan and the Habs though a large part of it consists of descibing how cold and windy it is in Montreal during winter.
