Around the League: 2019-2020 Regular Season

I'm impatiently waiting for the story about Sylvain Lefebvre & Louis Leblanc. There were a looooot of rumors of some shit happening down in Hamilton.

Also ragging on a Swedish player, just because he was Swede and supposedly didnt know how to play the North American style game. The game has been full of machismo since forever. The stories are probably a mile long. Now Franzen is saying that Babcock was the worse person he ever met.

Plenty of players hated Scotty Bowman. He's as good as they come.

Even more hated Ken Hitchcock & Mike Keenan. They got results (a little less so for Keenan, but still) and moved on a lot. If memory serves me right, Roger Neilson was another one that wasn't particularly popular.

There's a long list of excellent coaches that are hated. How many "players coaches" had long, illustrious careers?

The "Mike Babcock is a terrible human being" narrative does nothing for me. So he didn't let Mike Modano get his 1,500th game... okay? So? I'd much rather look towards his charitable work in regards to mental health than what he did as a coach.

Mike Commodore and Chris Chelios aren't exactly the barometers of who is & isn't a good human being. They're no saints.

The times are a changing. Babcock as champion of mental health ringing a little hollow now.

He has no regrets , he took financial security at barely a 60 point player

Skill was there but he didn't deliver . He could of went the bridge route but took the guarantee and gets a massive payday in 3 years

Class act , wants to win and thinking of the team and has no regrets right now .

It’s always been about ME Subban . I can’t believe Weber is aging better . It was the right move to make just wish 6 was four years younger .

We all do. Thing is if 6 was -4 they wouldn’t have traded him.

they still would of made the deal IMO

They were gunning for a cup and 76 provided more offence and puck moving ability

Both were 1D but 76 was more explosive and you take any advantage given to you

But 76 has fallen off a cliff , very shocking

Yes, PK and his game has been very quiet the last year. I wonder if he is losing his passion for the game, and might be ready to move on with other interests. He seems to have a few. Or maybe he is just in the wrong markets.

Not hearing much about him either way, good or bad.

Those injuries really killed PK's game. Assuming he would have suffered the same injuries, the trade has worked out well for the Habs.

He’s already thinking about life after hockey. It’s not the injuries. Everyone though Weber would fall off first, looks like it’s Subban.

Losing his athleticism has made him ordinary. I don't think it's distraction related since being elite helps his brand explore whatever other interests he has.
