Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

I don't know if it would necessarily increase excitement but bigger nets should be a given to adjust for goalies being 2x the size as they once were. Not sure bigger ice would help either but that makes some sense too. There is a lot that could be done that hasn't really been explored because in fairness it could make things worse.
Yes this should happen given that is 100% possible and NHL can't increase the rink size.

Yeah…considering what we’ve learned about “hockey culture” in recent years, the NHL probably wouldn’t benefit from pulling back the curtain on their players off the ice.
This is true... but maybe if the younger crowd is allowed to have a personality it would help?

Devils, Bruins and Lightning will be the three biggest challenges for Dubas to make a big move

Lou pulled a Dubas move and got out in front of everyone for a big deadline name and Im curious if he does the same or waits until closer to d day in order to pull the trigger

This chick gets it

Yup, we've talked about it for years here. When I think back on when I was a kid, and the Leafs were mostly crap outside of a few years of Dougie, it was the trades that had me fixated to the game, even when we were losing and going nowhere. Trades, draft, and July 1 - the best parts of the season, even moreso for a team not in contention. And now it's basically nonexistent except for like two days a year.

Dubie tends to like to move sooner rather than later. If someone broke the news to me that Horvat got traded but didn't tell me who got him, I'd have bet 50/50 it was Dubie.

Trades are fun. Stars moving teams gives NBA so much summer coverage.

The only thing I will say for the other side of it is this though - as a player, getting traded a lot must such shit. Just having to move homes once within a few years would be fucking obnoxious, not to mention multiple times in a year, or once a year like some of these strays that bounce around on PTOs yearly.

That said, the players exist to amuse and entertain me, so that's my top priority.

Best thing Dubas can do to avoid the crowd is look at players with term left on their deals instead of rentals. That's where your market inefficiency is going to be imo.

Chance to get a guy like Meier - 26 years old, PPG player, probably breezes past 40 goals - is sort of once in a blue moon. If he can be had, and retained by using the RFA status to leverage into a long term deal, that is by far and away the best move he can make. While he doesn't have term, RFA status is the next best thing. Let the market thin out as they go for Horvat now and a few of the other bigger names, and then dive in like a boss and win the deadline game.

he's effectively a pending UFA because of his QO

remember that the Bruins and Lightning don't have access to a $6m Muzzin kitty like we probably do.
