Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

No hard cap in the NBA really so no, same with MLB. NFL maybe? Don't follow NFL but don't know for sure but they do have a hard cap system so maybe
Most NFL players have a shorter career than other sports , they flock to the highest guaranteed money in free agency

The NFL has a “hard cap” in name only.
Allocated money is constantly moved around and rolled over as contracts are routinely restructured (or outright cancelled) to a team’s benefit.

I always chuckle when NHL fans say “our team has a great cap guy.” The NHL has by far the simplest cap rules. All that is needed is grade 9 algebra, some LTIR dodginess, and a willingness to explore Robidas Island.

Of course, this simplicity comes with rigidity. You can’t be all that creative and instead need to exploit advantages outside the league (tax laws)

Sounds like Kuznetsov is signing a 4 year deal to play in Russia and Carolina is putting him on unconditional waivers so the last year of his deal can be voided.

Canes got Kuznetsov for just a 2025 3rd round pick and he was actually decent in the playoffs. Having him and his $3.9 million cap hit just disappear now is a pretty good deal for the Canes. They will make productive use of that $3.9 million in cap space.
