Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

And regarding Michkov, the “he didn’t want to play in Montreal” stuff seems like copium to me. It’s not like there are recent examples of high-end Russian prospects refusing to go to the teams that drafted him.

And who the fuck cares what he wants anyway? Take the best player and be clear and steadfast that you’re not trading them, like Minnesota & Kaprizov. And being a rebuilding team, Montreal had plenty of time to wait for Michkov to come over.
That narrative really picked-up this year, but he was totally going to play anywhere. Always draft BPA.

Here come the trade deadline puff pieces. Hughes put in a favor for this one

Anderson has been great for the Habs now that he realized he's not a top two line winger and scorer.

Anyone recall in 2022' the media rimjobs for Ben Chiarot? He suddenly became Bobby Orr.

Agreed

Leaf fans want us to cry over the what-ifs. I think it's a waste of energy to do so. The only rationalization is logic. That ship sailed, look for the next one.

With all due respect your results have sucked so you just don't know.

I know that you have to make the playoffs to win in them, and bad players tend to not make the playoffs when they're in key roles on a team. I mean, would Lawson Crouse have helped us win playoff games Mitch Marner didn't? Probably fucking not unless we carried him there as a 3LW or some shit.

I'm looking longterm. Cooley deserves respect sure but I can see how Hughes is building this team. He's been shying away from smaller players in the first round since Caufield.

The key for me isn't Slafkovsky, he's going to be what he is, the key is Reinbacher. Blowing out his knee is a concern but until I see him in the league for a couple of years I won't call it a mistake.

In all honesty the Leafs have had three high end scorers that they drafted for years and that doesn't guarantee you anything. Leafs aren't the only ones either. Drafting Cooley and Michkov doesn't mean you're going to the cup.
Habs went for the unicorn in a weaker top 5 draft

Given what our media says about Crouse I think we'd hear a dynasty would start if we emptied the farm for that stud.
