He's vague enough to not give away too much but everything he says eventually comes true. He's very very transparent for a gm. People here always try to decode him but he says what he means basically every time.Well, that's the last time I don't take Dubas at his word...He was indeed transparent earlier this week (emphasis mine)
"If we can do something that we think is going to be a good fit in the locker room and on the ice, I think we would still very openly explore that,’’ Dubas said.
I get the frustration of the cost of Foligno; however Hall is being overrated in this thread. Foligno is the better fit for this group based on our talent
Do you see any difference between finding a fit this time around vs previous years? My spidey senses always start tingling when we/this team starts justifying overpaying for significantly less talented players because of “fit” and “intangibles”.

We are up 3-2 on Stanley Cup winning Tampa 12 minutes left in the game. Is Foligno what you want out there for four shifts or Hall?
I'm totally fine if everyone takes the latter. I'm just trying to distinguish between finding a fit for a potential Stanley Cup run vs a team who is on the rise and is simply collecting talent.
In a normal situation I'd agree but this checks off both the analytics/data and eye test boxes. This isn't some random plug who gets filled in. He has legitimately very good underlying numbers defensively in tough usage, which is a toolkit they could use against Tampa or Colorado. It's as much of an analytics move as Coleman was for Tampa last year. To be clear, Coleman was likely better but it's a similar idea as an analytics move disguised as an eye test one.My spidey senses always start tingling when we/this team starts justifying overpaying for significantly less talented players because of “fit” and “intangibles”.
Coleman/Goodrow were not pure rentals.Bang on , ask TB if giving up 2 firsts for 2 third line fits was worth it
is this original fagpouchie Jeff Carter? cause yeah, I thought he had long ago broken downI sort of didn't even realize Carter was still playing in the league.

Yeah, if it turns out he fell off a cliff in the last 7-9 months then I agree it's not a great trade. Kyle is betting that he didn't. Only time will tell.He may not get “filled in”, but he’s still very “plug-ish” to my eyes at this stage of his career.
And from some of the numbers that we’re flying around yesterday, there’s some suggestion that even his strong defensive reputation is largely based off numbers from previous seasons.
Just seems like a very pricy bet on an older, declining low-upside player to me. But I hope I’m wrong, and that he turns into a clutch leaderbean playoff performer that we all come to love, while at the same time Hall puts up zero points en route to Boston getting swept out of the first round.

Yeah, cause that was all our picks, and of course we suck badly so we really need these players we don't know...yep.Draft schmaft, eh?
