Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

Because at a certain point facts become irrelevant. No one is arguing that Bergevin is legally culpable of anything. This is a moral and ethical failure we're talking about. At some point, he found out about it and he did nothing. He said nothing. But that doesn't mean he isn't guilty on a higher level than legally.

Your words:

Bergevin was complicit in the sexual assault of a player

Complicit implies an illegal activity

Not necessarily. Phil Kessel's contract goes away next year. And even without the salary cap going up, 1.25 is easy to find.

Team needs to start winning in the playoffs , or this contract is another doozer on their cap

Core isnt working IMO , so what is giving Morgan a 2.5 mil raise going to do .

He isn`t turning into Lidstrom for the next 8 years

Yep, money talks and bullshit runs the marathon. If you're an owner who has Bettman's balls in a vice, like Jacobs, you can get away with anything.
Chevy was not in senior management at the time, nor the head coach like Q. What do you expect someone in a lower rung position to do without a legitimate fear of retaliation by their employer? It's easy to preach from above when you're not personally involved.

Would anyone in management hockey OPPS not have more power than the coach

The NHL has seemingly draw the line at who was responsible for sweeping the story under the rug. After that there is a bunch of people who knew of the story, either directly or indirectly, but probably didn't know all the facts, and didn't blow the whistle. The last group is probably everyone in the Blackhawks organization at that time, coaches, players, office and staff.

Morgan Rielly got himself a nice extension. 8 years, $7.5M / season.

That's a bit much for him, like 1-2m a year too much. But I guess that's the price to lock up guys under 28

7.5 mil is ok , term is too much

Means nothing if this team cant win a playoff series

He is not a 1D and team has no spine in the playoffs

Team already has bloated deals and there is no upside here with Morgan

Its not like your paying Maker at 22 who can win multiple Norris trophies
