Dubas has done a good job overall but in the NHL unless you’re David Poile you can’t last forever as a GM.

In other words Dumb-ass’s job was to simply make sure the Titanic would sail in warm waters and not go out of its way to find & hit an icebergDubas inherited an amazing core. All he had to worry about is bolstering the bottom lines and find a goalkeeper.
He also benefits from an unlimited budget to hire the best coaches, scouts, advisors, analytics, psychologists, medics, and everything else that can give his team an edge on the margins.
Sure, answering a bunch of questions from a packed house of cynical journalists is annoying, but it doesn't really consume more than 10 hrs out of his year.

In hindsight, Shanahan screwed up by choosing Dumb-ass over Uncle Lou. Toronto market & media would’ve been of no issue or consequence..Love how easy it is to do for you guys.

Because Lou has done so well on the Island?Shanahan screwed up by choosing Dumb-ass over Uncle Lou.
I agree Dumb-ass has the hardest job right now due to marketplace expectations for the respective teams - only because Mtl expectations are to finish bottom of the barrel and it’s the honeymoon at present for HuGoBecause Lou has done so well on the Island?
The comment was made talking amongst friends dude. This is first hand knowledge.
Hughes thinks the Toronto GM position is the hardest in the league due to exoectations. He had no reason to sugar coat it talking to people he's known since childhood.
According to Kent Hughes, Dubas has the hardest job in the league and he has the perspective of both GM and Agent.
What would he know? You'll forgive me if I go with Kent on this
Matthews is not the problem, he is their best player so teams will focus on him and that is on the coach to out coach the other team to allow Matthews space to play his game.. Marner and Nylander are soft in mind and body... one of the two needs to be traded to address the D or Goaltending, I would trade Nylander.. they should never of let go of Hyman .BTW, I think he's done a pretty good job. Not his fault Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner turn into average players come playoff time.
Also, last year's first round playoff loss came against an elite team, and the margin was super slim.
That was entirely different from similar results vs Habs and Jackets in years prior. Those were pure choke jobs.

that is my point, i would made room for Hyman, he is actually what the team needs. They could never afford Hyman just like others who bolt this summer
I am impressed at your ability to have so much wrongness contained in only three lines of text.Matthews is not the problem, he is their best player so teams will focus on him and that is on the coach to out coach the other team to allow Matthews space to play his game.. Problem is they had Hyman and other physical players and didnt workthat is my point, i would made room for Hyman, he is actually what the team needs.

Shana-plan is still the root cause for Leafs present situation.
perhaps you should familiarize yourself with the Leafs current d corps, and their performance as individuals and as a team in recent history.well said...
I don't understand why they never leveraged Nylander and/or Marner for d-men...how many times are they gonna try this recipe ? It's clearly not working...
even if we could, why would we want to?They could never afford Hyman just like others who bolt this summer
what ???? on what video gameI am impressed at your ability to have so much wrongness contained in only three lines of text.
Please allow me to assist.
Nylander is a much better hockey player than Hyman. Always has been. I don't think there is any objective measurement that suggests otherwise but of course you are free to present it.
The Leafs D is overall much stronger than the forwards. It makes no sense to trade up to two of our top four forwards to strengthen our D - we already have at least 8 (and likely more) legit NHL defenders.
Letting Hyman go and replacing him with the cheaper, younger, and better Michael Bunting was very shrewd management.
We agree about Matthews at least.
