I didn’t mind bringing him slowly but he’s having different line mates every game and keep being switched mid-game, that’s not a way to develop. His coach is a rookie. Like for real.

yup , wouldnt hurt to play him on the top line for a bit
was a great pass to Caufield...Lies.
Leafs fixed him.
IMO likely to see a Rantanen type growth curve - Rantanen had a very difficult go of it as an 18yr old in the NHL, was sent to AHL for 3/4 of the season, took some time but found his wings by in the second half of the season, then following year established himself as an NHL starter w Avs, & started coming into his own 3rd season post draft.Slaf is years away from finding a consistent game. The big guys almost always take longer. I hope he can grow into the player we hope. One guarantee is fans will be arguing about his development for a long time to come.
The Devils will be fine. Good team.Looking at the standings, just realized NJD are dropping like flies…
By next week when NJD likely fall to wild card position, the heat will start to pickup - could make for ideal Habs trade partner given their desperation to qualify for playoffs, let alone the internal heat GM will be feeling from ownership..

Not expecting Slaf to produce at the same peak rate, simply because last years draft cuvée was subpar, but should become a steady 25G / 50/60 pts player.
Let’s worry about goalies once we have the other pieces in place.
Habs likely end up w a top-5 pick and another top-10. With all the freed up cap, I’ve always expected HuGo to focus towards making the playoffs next season. I’m expecting off season moves to bolster G & RDI'd get signing a player like Pacioretty on a contending team...
...But as is? What would be the point, beyond intentionally worsening our first round pick?
Nobody is coming to this shit show as UFA unless your a slug looking for money nobody gives youHabs likely end up w a top-5 pick and another top-10. Pacioretty will also help take focus off Slaf, let alone score.
BINGOA question worth repeating:
What would be the point, beyond intentionally worsening our first round pick?
Best goalies available next summer, assuming they're not getting re-signed:
Jonathan Quick, Semyon Varlamov, Frederik Andersen, Tristan Jarry, Alex Nedeljkovic, Cam Talbot... Besides Tristan Jarry, there isn't a single goalie I'd like to sign.
Looking at d-men, same issue, not much to pick from:
John Klingberg, Erik Johnson, Matt Dumba, Shayne Gostisbehere, Damon Severson, Vince Dunn, Kevin Shattenkirk, Ian Cole, Travis Hamonic, Dmitry Kulikov...
A very unimpressive list.
So the free agency route won't work, which means we'd have to make trades. Frankly, I'm not interested in trading picks/prospects away for NHLers that other teams are trying to get rid of.
This rebuild is very far away from being done. A push to make the playoffs would be foolish.
