Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

Please ....no chance

Habs didnt have the offensive guns to win a cup
There was a prime opportunity at 2012 draft to flip 3OA + Beaulieu + 2014 1st of need be for Ryan Johanssen w legendary GM Scott Howson at the helm for CBJ

Habs were 1-win from Cup appearance

Not true. During the peak Price window (13, 14 and 15), Habs had Price, Patches, Markov, Subban and good support crew like Pleks, Eller , DD, Gallagher etc

Needed another star and had futures ammo to get it (Galchenyuk, Beaulieu plus multiple 1st rounders before they turned to shit like McCarron and Tinordi)
More than 1 star was needed , team had no 1C and not enough scoring on the wings

Support pieces were fine , not enough firepower and the team couldnt win 2-1 every night expecting Price to stand on his head

WTF was RJ going to do

He wasnt putting us over the top

Look at every cup winning team the last 10-15 years , Habs dont have the same ingredients

Look at Vegas at their depth and scoring prowess , Habs could never compete with that

62 goals from their top 9 ......Habs were never doing that

Nero blew it in 2017, he went for it by trading for 6 but then only got bums at the deadline

that's the point trade Chuckie and a mix of futures/multiple firsts and you might get a 1C and some rental winger

don't forget, if you add a star, suddenly Pleks/Lars become very good depth centres...DD a very good third line winger, etc

no saying the result = a cup, but when you don't hedge, you have a better shot at the grand prize

Was there ever a season in which the Habs made the playoffs when they weren't among the worst if not the worst offensive team in that post-season? They always had a pop-gun offense. The only reason they ever made playoff berths was because of their goaltending. And as soon as they came up against an opponent with good enough goaltending to negate the Price advantage it was game over. The only teams the Habs ever beat were the ones with shit goaltending. Even in 2021. Leafs goaltending: shit. Jets goaltending: shit. Golden Showers goaltending: shit. Lightining goaltending: shi...err...elite. Done like dinner in 5 games.

Exactly , like I said before not taking anything away from the Habs playoff run

That has to be the worst offensive production in NHL playoff history

Nobody close to a PPG , or double digit scoring

Our 1C scored 1 goal , offensive was a fraud .

There was never a blueprint except Price and a bible

Habs were never built to win ....dont bring up the BS covid gift
In the last 6 years, 3 TIMES the last place team to make the playoffs have made it to the Cup finals.. Predators .. Habs.... Panthers.. in 2019 the Blues went from being in last place (mid-season) to champs ..

The Habs are the only 24th place and 18th place teams to get Covid lifelines

It is what it is , Habs were never getting in and headed towards the gut job that started a few years later

I get the injuries and departures but to go from the finals to the worst team is a flawed roster

The playoff format has never been about where you land in the overall league standings.. it is the top 8 in the east, and top 8 in the west..

it was for a couple of years after the merger but generally you are correct, it has been divisional or conference standings
