Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

So? Cgy finished ahead of Fla in points / overall standings this season..
Yup in a regular 82 game season

93-95+ points is the norm to sneak into 8th place

Habs were not close to that in the finals year in a revamped schedule where you didnt play 2/3 of the league

Bottom line .....flawed team heading to a gut job years ago and now in one

There was never any other road but a tear down and executing very well so far with a real GM

Agreed , only referring to the covid top 4 playoff format where the Habs got in

Their record was never cutting it in a normal year
And yet you always miss that you play by the rules you're given. When they crack down on an infraction do you continue doing so because the rules were different before?

Your inability to adjust to your surroundings is really glaring.

it wasn't a normal year, it was a tough division, more travel than the east and west..they played with no crowds when places in the States were allowing crowds.. my point is the Habs earned everything they got that year, there was no GIFT..

Some of you cant adjust to the fact that the Habs were never making the playoffs

I gave them full credit for their effort but the same flawed team is now in a gut rebuild

What team goes to the finals to the worst team in the league ...just accept the covid gift

The facts / reality of the situation is they did.

sure Fla would not have made the playoffs this year had Chi not won…but Panthers did make the playoffs, does that make their run any less meaningful?

Come on we lost 751 man games to injury.. I believe that is a NHL record..What NHL team has ever gone though that and made the playoffs. We lost Price, Weber two key star players and leaders for the season, we played an AHL team for most of the season, even CC was sent to the AHL.. that was the turning point for the rebuild.. the injuries would be more in line of the "gift" you keep referring to. You even said that the Avs were in tough after losing star players , it was going to be tough.how about applying the same to the Habs... No one is disputing that a rebuild was in order..

The reason UFA don't sign in a particular town is this mentality. The don't give a fuck, fuck the fans which also means fuck the players, do it or go mentality is BS. Bergevin got players that didn't want to play in Canada for one year deals to try to get the retiring players a cup. They almost did it. Now the league knows Bergevin gives a shit about players. That's currency that you and the other Tweedle never figured out how to use. You couldn't make a persuasive argument if your life depended on it and that my friend is the key to success, making others see things your way when they haven't before and that's not done by ramming crap down people's throats. While they are assets, players are human assets.

So please already, take your adolescent understand of human emotion and reaction elsewhere, really tired of it. Not your fault, you're blind to it. I'm sure there's plenty that I'm blinded to, but just stop because it is like dealing with my children all over again.

Why is it wrong for Gee to say the Habs caught an improbable random heater during their fun Cup run a few years ago?

Now, they tore it down in order to build what we hope is a sustainable multi-year stab at winning it all.

I am happy that both of the above happened.

It’s the “they didn’t really make the playoffs”… well they did.

Because he doesn't say it like that Mr.. Marketer. Entirely my point.

I maintain that was a quality team that slacked off after a hot start (specifically the vets like Price, Weber and Perry) once it was pretty certain they were making the playoffs. Not sustainable, as the best players were old though.

Slacked off or playing through brutal pain?

Both, according to my villain 80's sports movie coach persona.

In any case, my guess is in a regular season with tougher competition, they probably finish off the season better to end up with a good record, but with less gas for the playoffs.

for me it's the constant "we wouldn't have made it other seasons." Who cares, we did and were within a bad giveaway by Ben of going home tied in the Finals. After the covid shit, it was a glorious spring. Too bad Legault was a pussy and didn't allow the Bell Centre to be full for the Final.
