Agreed, it's the most bizzare double standard in sports. Media scrambles to get a sound bite or camera shot from him, almost oblivous to what he did.For 3-4 years only.

They have no idea of the depravity.Agreed, it's the most bizzare double standard in sports. Media scrambles to get a sound bite or camera shot from him, almost oblivous to what he did.
Which is why you let the process run its course.Without knowing the specific facts here, and without trivializing the alleged incident, this type of thing happens relatively frequently on college campuses with fraternities. When I was at McGill there was an infamous incident with one of the frats, involving some guys who I knew, who were eventually cleared of wrongdoing. And then there was the infamous Duke men’s lacrosse team case. Total set-up.
None of them are ever playing another game in the NHL, possibly even if they're not guilty. Are their careers over you think?
That’s certainly fair.None of them are ever playing another game in the NHL, possibly even if they're not guilty.
You don’t need to convince me.Which is why you let the process run its course.
None of the players are good enough to warrant the PR nightmare even if they're found to be innocent. That’s certainly fair.
Saying it for the sake of it for the dense to absorb. You don’t need to convince me.
Different era, and over 30 years old. People tends to forget and/or forgive after enough time, and some of those media types were not even born back then. Plus he’s an icon.Agreed, it's the most bizzare double standard in sports. Media scrambles to get a sound bite or camera shot from him, almost oblivous to what he did.
as he said, they would fill Madison Square Garden just to watch him masturbate.Different era, and over 30 years old. People tends to forget and/or forgive after enough time, and some of those media types were not even born back then. Plus he’s an icon.
It doesn't matter if they are convicted or not. They are finished.they could get more for a gangbang and the high publicity of the case
If I were one of the guys, I would hire Marie Henein, she got Ghomeshi off.
So he should volunteer to be part of the cover up then? I know you don't like uncomfortable reality messing with your enjoyment of sports but these guys gang-raped an 18 year old girl. Westhead isn't tearing anything down. The players and their shitty personal conduct while representing their country are. You seem to value loyalty to corporate entities more than justice, which is a bad flex for a lawyer.I wonder what it is like to be someone like Westhead who basically does all he can to tear down a sport he claims to like and cover.
I was in a fraternity at Concordia and saw some things, but it was the 80's so the concept of consent did not require the signing of a waiver. But I remember all the themed beer bashes we hosted. The Carpet Bash - "Bring a piece and lay it". The Landshark Bash - "Hi there, clamcake".Without knowing the specific facts here, and without trivializing the alleged incident, this type of thing happens relatively frequently on college campuses with fraternities. No "possibly" about it. They are toxic to the brand. No team wants people waving placards outside their arenas and no sponsor wants the blowback either. Players come and players go. Not one of the accused players is so good that their teams can't live without them or easily replace them with non-rapey players. If Bedard was accused? Different conversation perhaps. But no one is going to the wall to save Carter Hart's career. He can get fucked.None of them are ever playing another game in the NHL, possibly even if they're not guilty.
Freshman semester was September of 85. Definitely more Loyola, although I had classes at the Hall Building and even a couple in the old YMCA building on Drummond Street. But I lived in NDG and our fraternity activities were all based out of Loyola. Our beer bashes were held in the Guadagni Lounge at Loyola, where the Interfraternity Council operated the coffee bar during the day.Ok fuck. What years were you at Concordia and more Loyola or Hall campus?
Who took over your computer? You are the same one who wouldn't care if they were on our team as long as they scored a goal to beat the Leafs so the holier than thou attitude don't work on me to paraphrase Watto. So he should volunteer to be part of the cover up then? Let justice be done or Hockey Canada fall.

Our frat house had a vacuum cleaner and one of the guys stenciled the name of one of the sorority girls on the side of it. Our old house was an apartment adjacent to one belonging to a sorority and one of the guys drilled a peep hole through the wall into their bathroom. And, naturally, the goal was always to get women drunk enough to let their inhibitions slip. My first encounter with 2 women at once definitely involved alcohol consumption on the part of one of the girls involved.
Ironically, the only blowback we ever got the whole time I was there was when we hosted a bash following the Iran-Contra scandal. We called it the "Iranamok Bash" and the posters featured an Aislin cartoon of Reagan. A Muslim student who's first language was not English began accusing us. "What is this Iran bash? What is this Reagan?" We had to try and explain that it wasn't political or religious just to get him to go away.
