Leafs need a veteran coach that can bring some defensive stability... Jacques Martin.
There's no Giroux. There's Marner who only looks pass, Matthews who only looks shot. Rielly who only looks pass. Maybe they need to run things through Willy and not Mitch. I don't know what the issue is but when you get shut down every single playoff after 3 powerplay coaches, it just tells me that the players are likely too predictable. This doesn't happen with other elite teams. It's not black or white of course... Guy Boucher obviously had no fucking idea how to coach a powerplay too.I mean, we should with the talent we have
But…. It was way better all year long? It seems like an adjustment issue. There's no Giroux. There's Marner who only looks pass, Matthews who only looks shot. Rielly who only looks pass. Consistently elite powerplay players are typically dual threats because it removes a shit ton of predictability and makes the series pre scout far more challenging. So yeah a lot of it is coaching but it's rarely only one or there other. 3 pp coaches later and it's obviously a little of column A and a little of column B.
If you’re getting a new prez just can Treliving and let him hire his own GM right away.
It's great every season, until the end of the year. Yes the coaches can't adapt, but neither can the players. It's been an issue every year. When PKs adapt to Kucherov always shooting, Kucherov will start faking shot and going pass to keep them honest, and vice versa. Because he can. Not like Marner will keep anyone honest with his muffin. It's easier to defend.But…. It was way better all year long? It seems like an adjustment issue.

Tre announced it. He stay. We fucked.
Unless trevling is president or they won't have a president at allIf you’re getting a new prez just can Treliving and let him hire his own GM right away.
Yeah thats the sensible thing, but you could Feaster himIf you’re getting a new prez just can Treliving and let him hire his own GM right away.
didn't want to disrespect his induction into the Brampton sports hall of fame!Like they only decided this yesterday?
I just don't get how you can look at the body of work and 3 pp coaches later and say it's ONLY a coaching issue. That just doesn't register with me, I'm sorry. But I'm rarely a black or white kinda dude.
Both were the salient issuesBoth can be an issue.
still think our guys would actually perform better without any coaching. and like you said, let Willy run it. dual threat. remember him and Matty on the PP earlier in their career? they anchored a unit without Marner and were fucking great. There's no Giroux. There's Marner who only looks pass, Matthews who only looks shot. Rielly who only looks pass. Maybe they need to run things through Willy and not Mitch. Consistently elite powerplay players are typically dual threats because it removes a shit ton of predictability and makes the series pre scout far more challenging. So yeah a lot of it is coaching but things are rarely only one or the other in life. 3 pp coaches later and it's obviously a little of column A and a little of column B.
Late season and playoffs year. Teams adapt. Leafs coaches can't adapt, Leafs players can't adapt. Out of every scenario in hockey, powerplay is the one where true pp talent shines, with or without structure. If the players aren't adapting to the opposition's adjustments and the coaches aren't adapting to the oppositions adjustments, you're pooped. It's very obviously both. You can argue on the weighting but how many more pp coaches do you need? But it’s never an issue until the playoffs. And it’s the PK too.
canning keefe = good.In the playoffs coaches can actually make adjustments and coach for one opponent. Every series only one coach did that.
I'd be more stunned if he didn't.I'm stunned he put the 4th line on after a goal in game 7.
