Yeah, that's just a normal bad hockey deal. 4 quarters for a dollar type stuff that is within the realm of possibility from a bad front office.

Real life offers for Mitch will be better than that kind of crap. It's perfectly reasonable that other orgs could believe "get him out of the hometown shitshow onto our team that does x, y, z better than the Leafs and he could excel".

If Mitch hits the trade market, 20+ teams will make calls about him. 5-10 teams will be willing to make Tkachuk package (1 top line forward + 1 top 2/3 D) type offers for him.

As much shit as he eats for his playoff performances, half of the teams in the league start every season with the goal of just making the playoffs and make roster moves accordingly. What Steve Simmons thinks about him won't impact his value around the league in the least. These people live in a fucked up media ecosystem they've all created and continually reinforce that isn't penetrated by reality until it is, and then they do their best to forget it ever happened. The same myth and narratives are on endless loop and fit any situation.

I'm always amazed how NHL fans have never caught on that goalies such such shitty trade value. Hellebuyck is in Winnipeg because when they were looking to move him no one was interested.
 
Anderson is an interesting target because he was so bad this year, but historically has been awesome. Not for Marner obviously, but could be a great buy low candidate like Lindholm was.
