GDT #50: Cunt, Sexy and Cock vs BJs

they're probably going to need to cough up their first to get a G

maybe putting the first on the table tempts a team to take mrazek off their hands. probably, not though. they'll probably need to offer up robertson or amirov to accomplish both.

Modified no trade clause, no? Doubt any Canadian team is on his list. He didn't even want to go to Chicago.

UFA - a good playoff run probably nets him an extra year or two.

and this is a damn good sitaution for a G.

His priority is family and staying with them. I don't think he would move to another country, even temporarily, especially with the covid stuff. But yes, if you convince him have at it.

I think you hang on to Jack for the rest of this year and hope he gets his shit together.

But if you're not getting rid of Mrazek and replacing him with someone who could possibly take the reins from Jack in the playoffs if need be, then I don't think there's much point spending any assets to upgrade the forwards or D at this year's deadline.

You can't worry about Jack. He's your guy. You have to hope he gets through it.

You do need to worry about who's behind him if he can't get his act together, and Mrazek doesn't look like he can be that guy.

So get a good backup and find a way to get Mrazek out of here.

ya if they can't fix the goaltending right meow, I think the big expensive trades for other positions should be off the table until they do.

It's that stinker to start the 3rd that really crushes.

I don't blame jack much on the Laine snipes.

Notably, lyabushkin was pretty good but caught out on 2 goals against.
Was that the one they scored 1-on-4?

Fair point about Laine, I think Jack looked pretty bad on one of them but that guy is a high-end sniper.

If we go into this off-season with goaltending as our biggest question mark and it's weak again...then it's time for a firing. He's had a whole lot of time to figure this out.

the killer is his first real splash was mrazek... whose really ungood.

I'll give him marks for getting Campbell, who I think is a good goalie with serious confidence issues best suited for a tandem role. But he clearly can't be THE guy. Find the other half of the tandem cause Mrazek isn't it.

How can you start talking firing when Campbell was literally the best Leafs goalie ever through the first 50-60 games of his career? You can't just bank on guys falling off cliffs midseason suddenly.

The Mrazek signing wasn't great because of the money. But as a backup to a lights-out Campbell, he was fine. Can't look at things now and say, oh, but Campbell is actually shit so that was dumb because we needed a 1A. And Campbell isn't shit. It's a bad slump probably fueled by confidence issues. But if we have to rely on the backup because he can't get it together, then Mrazek isn't that guy. And you can't hold Dubey accountable really because I don't know any team that wins a Cup with their backup goalie unless it's a young heir apparent who was just waiting for their opportunity.

To Dubas's credit, I think he realized Campbell couldn't be a traditional workhorse #1 goalie. That's why he went out and signed another goalie to a three year deal for almost $4M per season. It's just a shame that goalie was Petr Mrazek.
