It matters but only to a point. What's ailing the Habs right now isn't a coaching issue it's a talent issue. The players as a group simply ain't good enough. No amount of coaching is going to turn a plough horse into a thoroughbred. So coaching doesn't matter.
So dumb
Scotty Bowman in his prime couldn't get much more out of this bunch.
Bowman never gave up 9 goals and wouldn't have allowed six in the third. He'd call a time out, button it down and not allow an embarrassment.Oh I don’t know about that
Not yet.For the love of all that is holy… go get a back up goalie.
Last year’s assessment was catastrophically wrong.

It matters very little imo outside of special teams. So coaching doesn't matter.

it seems hilarious now that the front office was overly pre-occupied with not losing Primeau to waivers last year, causing unnecessary stress on the roster
I'm fine trying either ahl goalie.I understand your point, but it could incredibly destructive. At this point the cost might outweigh the benefit.
Neither can much worse than Preems at this point.I'm fine trying either ahl goalie.
Keeping Matheson on his off side was a coaching decision. Not pulling Montembeault? Coaching. Coaching matters. It matters very little imo outside of special teams.
The difference in nhl coaches are minimal imo.
There will come a time for a new voice but that isn't this season.
The front office has not been great imo. They have also had bad luck.Tragi-comic kept getting spell checked, because that’s what wanted to say instead of catastrophic.
I don't want them to do much better unless they become a star goalie. Then it is worth the worse draft pick.Neither can much worse than Preems at this point.

Not having a reliable backup is a big issue for the coach, that's not on him. But his inability to call timeouts when shit goes south is on him.Bowman never gave up 9 goals and wouldn't have allowed six in the third. He'd call a time out, button it down and not allow an embarrassment.
When things go sideways Marty is like a deer in headlights. I like the guy sure but the players are not picking up what he's putting down. You can blame the players all you like but it's a two-way street.
A good coach recognizes the situational aspects of each game and that each game is different and makes in-game adjustments. Marty simply doesn't do that.
There is no way Montembeault should have lasted after the fourth goal. Especially when the second goal where rust walked around Matheson was terrible. Monty should have had that. Then not having his pad down on the fourth.
The point isn't that Primeau sucks, it's that Monty was too. Not a good night for him. Needed pulled after 4.
Also, Matheson on his off side was really really bad. Atrocious. That needed correcting after their second goal but he kept Matheson there.
These decisions did not put his players in a position to succeed. People that simply blame the players really have no fucking clue about the game and the structure. Idiot analysts = most fans. We have some here.
Monty did get pulled and that went over well.Keeping Matheson on his off side was a coaching decision. Not pulling Montembeault? Coaching. Coaching matters.
We had one RHD in the lineup last night, and not a good one. That's on management.Keeping Matheson on his off side was a coaching decision. Not pulling Montembeault? Coaching. Coaching matters.
