I don't give a shit about "solid". To me "solid" is just a euphemism for "meh". I want a difference maker. A game breaker. I want a superstar, not a "solid" dependable mediocre player like Gallagher.

Solid Bob Gainey won the Conn Smythe in 1979 but the Habs wouldn't have made it to the finals, let alone won the Cup, if Lafleur didn't score that goal against the Bruins.

I'm leaning that way, espicially now that we only have a single pick in the first two round. Flyers seems like a potential target, we could trade the 5th for their 7th and 22nd or Detroit with their 9th and 17th.

Flyers seems the least risky because at 7th, you ar garanteed to have one of Leonard, Benson, Reinbacker or Drowsky and you get a 22nd back which is better than the 31st you had.

If we trade down and the first three picks become two top six forwards and a prospect with a high ceiling and a longer time line, we have done very well.
 
I think Hughes is planning to move a player out for picks. Maybe not a first but at least a second. He's not done.

Still a bit upset Hughes partially ruined our draft fun by trading away 31 and 37, would have liked to see who they would have picked. Habs always do this, even traded away picks that never played for us like Sergachev and McDonagh.

There was never an authorized rebuild. This is a retool and Newhook is game ready. Retool accelerated.
