Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

TT was traded late in the year so its closer to 2 years

Sharangovich was a 13 goal scorer from Joisy

Conroy had to salvage any roster player and paid him 2x 3.1 , plus he is a UFA after next year .

His 30 goal season is a bonus but good luck paying 6 mil on a team going nowhere at 27 years of age

That contract and player type transaction was never going to happen on a rebuilding Habs team

Lek netted us a first round prospect that was 2 years ahead of any draft pick and a second , all this for a 30ish point player third liner

I dont see anyone handing us an A level prospect or a higher pick in any trade

We still got absolutely nothing so far but our best 2 pieces. I don't see how you can argue that those were good trades, with hindsight, at the moment.

Nobody can predict the outcomes of trades

Is Mesar a regular in a few years or trade bait with that second rounder ?

Barron might be traded in a package or be a regular

If Sharangovich was a 30-35 goal scorer in hindsight Jersey keeps him

For example the Nucks got slaughtered in the Lindholm deal so far , he looks like shit

Most thought he was the missing piece on the top 6 , but it is what it is

There is always a risk in trades, but the whole point of asset management is to be able get valuable assets in return.

Its goes to show that just because you unload good players for futures doesn't mean you will benefit from doing so. Unless your only goal to to get rid of salary. It is certainly not necessarily any sign that performance on the ice will get better in the future.
