It was the Wolfpack Club people who really took the last of the tickets off the market. They were also allowed to buy 8 per account, and that did the trick. Now, from what I've gathered the WPC folks paid roughly 40% more than Canes full STMs did for tickets between the 40s, so that dynamic pricing did kick in pretty hard. And you can count on a big chunk of those hitting the secondary market, based on the buzz.If you allow every Canes STM account to buy 8 tickets, a whole lot of them are going to buy 8 tickets for either friends or to flip them for a profit. I'm surprised that this was some new concept to the NHL, they must not think very much of our STM base and/or do not quite have a grasp on the 'income dynamics' of the people in this market.
About those Stadium Series tickets…
That’s my question too. Ultimately it’s 1 of our 41 home games. Even with the league mangling…I mean managing ticket distribution, they should have been allocated fewer tickets than the Canes. How many were sold to Caps fans?
Sounds like Stepan is going to get a contract.
Right. Unless they’re going to carry 14 forwards, there isn’t enough room for all of Drury, Noesen, Martinook and Stepan. Two of them will be on the 4th line with Kase (probably), 1 of them will be the healthy extra, the other is SOL. And we have a bigger logjam when Patches is healthy, unless there is another injury between now and then.Right Handed Center.
Bad news for Drury I think unless the Canes are willing to expose Noesen to waivers. Might be best for Drury now to go to Chicago until a spot in the lineup opens up due to injury.
Well, apparently at least some level of their season ticket holder group got access with ours on the first day. Other than that, they also had an "exclusive" window over the last couple of days during these other "exclusive" windows so there was a block assigned to them. How big any of these blocks were is anybody's guess because the NHL never was forthcoming with any actual details nor did they make their press people available for questions, apparently. Plus, with the roughly 5 member "press corps" around here, by the time one of them gets a chance to ask a question about it, nobody will care anymore. How many were sold to Caps fans?
The NC General Assembly didn't help things along when they didn't get a sports betting billed passed. One of the big attractions that the Canes want built in that space is a sportsbook/restaurant/bar that can be part of the whole 'year round destination theme'. There is a big advertising/cross marketing opportunity for the Canes (revenue!!!) if a sportsbook can get opened right near the arena. Expect to continue to hear Waddell and Dundon speak up about the Canes missing out on that revenue while other franchises cash in.
I honestly don't think Noesen is sticking around because he's just not a 4th line kind of player. That probably keeps him from getting claimed on waivers as well, but we'll see. Drury is waiver exempt and relatively expensive at roughly $1 million plus bonuses, but we'll see how it plays out with Stepan and the surplus guys on D. The money has to work by the 10th and it's no good spending too much time worrying about low impact 4th line ice time. I just think it's counter-productive not to let Drury have NHL development time this season.Right. If Drury is going to be the heir apparent to Staal next year, he has to play in the NHL this year.I honestly don't think Noesen is sticking around because he's just not a 4th line kind of player. People I know on both sides of the aisle who work in and around the NCGA sound confident that some form of sports gambling leglaization is happening sooner rather than later. The NC General Assembly didn't help things along when they didn't get a sports betting billed passed. I think Marty should be the odd man out. I realize his leadership and tenure, but I think it’s time to try to see what Noesen & Drury can do. Marty would probably clear waivers and could offer his leadership to the younger Chicago players. Keep Stepan, Drury, and Noesen. On the defense, Bear should be the guy cut.Right.
