Lou Lamoriello named Leaf GM

But, Lamierello didn't hire Babcock and I have it on good authority that the only way for a team to work is for every one who answers to anyone to be directly hired by that person.

Devils had the top posession team in the league over the past few years ( or one of em). So you can't claim Lou doesn't acknowledge analytics, they just had some of the worst skilled forwards in the show, and the drafting leaves alot to be desired.

Actual quote from the Habs board:

And they can forget about getting top flight UFA's as long as Lou is calling the shots. Nobody is going to voluntarily play for a guy who runs his team like a 19th century southern plantation owner. Maybe he got along with Shanny but I guess that's because Shanny was more "house" than "field".

lol, wow.

Hey, don't make fun, that viewpoint is absolutely true.

Just look at how Lou built the Devils. He got hired, and then he hired his right-hand man David Conte to...wait, what? David Conte was working for the Devils for three years already before Lamoriello was even hired? And they went on to work together for 28 years and win multiple Cups together? Hrmm....does not compute.

Question:

If we owe the Wings a 3rd for Babcock and the Devils a 3rd for Lou, how do we pay it when we only have one to give? And if we have to give one in 2017, which of those two teams gets that and which team gets the one for 2016?

Isn't it that we have to give them a third at some point over the next 3 drafts or something? Also there is talk that rule will be repealed by the end of the year.

The Leafs have a time frame (i think 3 years) where they can pick which pick to give each team.

The lapel pin needs updating, but yeah. Accurate.

For Babcock we got a choice of 2015, 2016, 2017... and for Lou we get a choice of 2016, 2017 and 2018.

Would imagine we give 2017 3rd for Babcock and 2018 3rd for Lamoriello.

And we have 11 picks next year already, a shitload more players to move for picks at the deadline.

Even if, I don't think it would affect things that happen before the rule change. If we owe the pick, we owe the pick.

Dumbest ****ing rule ever, especially when we hired the person for a position that doesn't correlate with what they had. If he was GM of the Devils, then I'd get giving up a pick. But he had some figurehead position that they didn't even care about, so to get compensated for it is annoying.

But whatever, we'll have 3rds to spare.
