Martin Reway Signs

Habsy nailed it:

Offensive game and speed

Instead of defensive game and Price

We have Subban-Markov-Petry-Beaulieu....how come we can't have a nice transition game from the back-end ??? We have the speed to make it work...

I've been asking that question for over a year now.

At one point in the 2014-2015 season, we had Subban, Markov, Beaulieu, Gonchar, Petry and Gilbert all in the line at the same time. Those guys are all considered PMD, right? But our transition from D to F was beyond putrid.

If you watch Chicago or San Jose play, or even Pittsburgh/Tampa Bay, their transition from D to F is structured & fast.

Meanwhile, we have our munchkin JJ Daignault.

No no no......Pittsburgh has a horrible d-corp...putrid....they will never go far in the playoffs with that d-corp...same with Tampa (outside of Letang-Hedman for both teams).

Your "conversion" appears complete.

I never thought Therrien was all that. I also thought that he was receiving unfair criticisms, but of course there was also a lot of fair criticism in the bunch. He's a ok coach, but he's old school as it gets.

that is more my thought on the matter too

He is unfairly criticized for many things, but if he were gone, I would not shed a tear. He is a good corporate foot soldier who does what he is told.

This is what Therrien thinks of another small forward

Yep. I don't think Therrien inspires a lot of praise. Some of the flak he gets is silly, so calling it out seems like a ringing endorsement when it's not.

In fact there is nobody in the Habs org that I value. I'm not sure this org has a cohesive team building strategy. They're just patching up holes on a case by case basis. Reacting instead of following a disciplined and thoughtful strategy. At least I'm not seeing that... Perhaps I am blind and will soon be pleasantly surprised.

I know it's unfair to compare them to my Vikings because it's a different sport, but I completely understand every move made by the new Viking regime over the last 2 years. The moves don't always work out, but every draft pick and every free agent signing is part of a bigger plan. They are interested in certain player types they feel will thrive in their system -- others are avoided.

Back to hockey, I think the Kings have done a good job in team building.

The other thing, obviously is that the brand was built on excellence and bringing home Cups. Thos memories are getting older every year....

Yeah, too many head scratching decisions, for a while I thought I was getting what MB was trying to do and then he totally lost me. I have no idea where we are going at the moment and I don't have much confidence in the outcome. Not all is lost however and a couple good moves this summer could put us right on track.

Yeah it is hard to discern Bernie's plan. He wants to get bigger but picks up Byron and extends Desharnais. He wants guys who can skate but picks up Mike Brown. He trades for Vanek buts lets him be jacked around then doesn't even offer him a contract.

He says the failed season is on him and uses phrases like no excuses then whines about Price's injury.

Bergy started off well....but became too complaisant after that....he probably didn't believe in his team, so hesitated to give away young talent for that top 6, thinking they needed another year or two to mature as a group first (Subban, Gally, Chuckie, Beaulieu).

But now we screwed himself into a corner...Price, Max, and Chuckie won't be making little bucks forever, and Markov is done within 2 years. That, and the fact Price got injured last 3 out of 4 years really screwed up his plan of slowly building a contender

The Kings have a clear-cut identity and they make their rosters moves around that identify; They're big and physical. Over the last 5 full seasons, they've acquired only 5 or 6 players in their whole organization that were under 6', and three of 'em were minor leaguers.

The Habs are a speed & skill team playing an unskilled type of game. The Habs have the D to be playing a fast game, but they're not.

I really have no idea what this team's identify is supposed to be.

A GM needs balls to create a team in his vision, because if things don't pan out, it's on him. Sometimes you may need to trade an excellent player who just doesn't fit -- that opens you up a lot of second guessing.

Beregevin has not shown any courage. Hoping on some lotto tickets is not a strategy.

We need someone that knows how to implement a nice transition game...i don't know if JJ Daigneault is thst person (still hasn't shown it).

Bergy just hired his buddies...our AHL coaching staff hasn't impressed, and Therrien's assistant have destroyed the PP and are not properly utilizing our offensive minded dmen
