Fucking hell...

NDP is just caved.

If Ekos is right, everyone is caved. The CPC is back to their support levels from before the country was sick of Trudeau the first time but still voted for him, the NDP is losing official party status (again, jeeebus...bye Jagmeet) and the cause of Quebec seperatism has been set back for a generation, or a few weeks, we can never tell with you people.

They'll obviously back track on this, or they won't, or they'll do it twice tomorrow....only to reverse course again, maybe or maybe not, on Friday.

BC certainly dodged one in the last election (where fortunately the BC Cons lost an election):

Your mountain conservatives are cut from the same cloth as Alberta conservatives in my experience. I met a lot of people in the sands from the interior. Even the younger ones from Kelowna/Kamloops were basically identical to their same aged counterparts from AB, just with a bit more snowboarding on their days off.

It used to be said that people got more conservative as they aged but that last chart seems to indicate that support for the Liberals goes up the older people get. Clearly right wing shitheads on social media like Rogan, Tate et al are having an effect on young males who can't get laid.

I think the culture that has grown up around the angst is a force multiplier, but it's not the root cause imo. It's that young men have been left behind by society and shitty sub cultures have been more than happy to embrace them, tell them it's not their fault and redirect the angst.

This generation of young men are paying for the cultural transgressions of previous generations of men, and they're mad about it. They're comparitively uneducated, over medicated, under employed, and less wealthy in a world that has gotten far more expensive.

I think about how fortunate I was to buy a house during basically the last era that home ownership was relatively affordable, and what that's done to the trajectory of my financial life. I absolutely couldn't fucking imagine being 10 years younger and trying to do it in 2023 instead of 2013 like I did. My home doubled in value over the next ~7 years and then when I sold that and bought again, the home we bought next has gone up ~30% since we bought in like 2020. I would be pretty angry too if I came of age at a time where a starter house in a bedroom community 1 hr from Toronto was 600-700K and my options to keep my mortgage under 2500 a month today would basically be a small condo instead of the 3bed, 2 bath corner lot with a pool that I bought by myself in 2013 for 1600 a month with property taxes incl. Securing that was the single biggest reason my financial future is secure, I was able to change careers to something I enjoy more, etc. Missing out on that would have sucked, and I was already one of the lucky ones from an employment standpoint. Honestly don't even want to think about how grim coming through 10 yrs later would have looked like.

So yeah, young men are listening to the only people speaking to their problems. Those people just happen to be the worst among us. You want a civilization to collapse in a hurry? Let an entire generation of young men feel left out of society.

Needs splits on education - that’s driving the #s in the US. Not sure if that’s the case here.

Housing is a big issue. Getting on the real estate ladder is brutal if the Bank of Mom and Dad doesn’t pitch in, and when they do it really exacerbates the prosperity gap.
