New Canadian Politics Thread

Public health officials say Ontario is in the midst of its largest measles outbreak in almost 30 years.

New cases reported last week bring the province's total this year to just over 140, far surpassing the 101 total infections recorded in the province between 2013 and 2023.

It may be a good time to bring back the HST holiday in some form or the local travel credit from post covid.

The biggest place this is going to hit consumers is in their employment. If we're throwing assets at shoring, throw it at tax credits and support for employers who sell to the US.

We can be selective on counter tariffs to target industries that aren't essential to us and in a lot of categories, not really inflationary. Alcohol for example.

I trust PP to be able to navigate this.

Why the fuck would this ever have even been a consideration?
Kinda how combined sewer works. Big storm events surcharge the system. Raw untreated water has to be dumped. I think I know this project and it really is a bit more nuanced then spa wants to dump sewage in the lake. There is already a CSO at this area and they want to move it to make room for the redevelopment in the area. Untreated dumps already occur here during big storm events. .

I am unfortunately doubly aware of this fact.

Once because I'd read that about how Toronto's system works. A second time because I unthinkingly took my dog to Cherry Beach dog park one time right after a torrential downpour, and he came out of the water on the Eastern channel side smelling like the devil's asshole.

It just seemed to me like the proposal was suggesting they were just going to be dumping all of their untreated waste into the lake, period.
