New Canadian Politics Thread

Alright, so what's the path to keeping PP to a minority?
don't think there is one at this time

Trudeau is hated now, he needs to go but his hubris won't allow it

Greens are non-entities, Bloc will win a lot of seats not affect election, Dhaliwal is a disaster and the NDP is done

This lines up nicely with the discussion we were having recently about transit

The new tram line is expected to carry 24K passengers a day and reduce car travel by 2000 cars per day. Which sounds not great at first glance, except this is a 3 stop extension to the existing line having that impact. If you want more efficient surface street traffic, support more flexible transit options. When you look at the numbers for what the major surface streets carry in a day (Avenue road 30K vehicles total, Bloor 24K before the bike lanes, 20K after, Dundas 17K, etc) there's just no way to meaningfully increase that.

Unfortunately i missed my window to get my italian passport the easy way.

I highly recommend you guys take advantage of it as soon as possible. At the very least it gives you a chance to invest in euro real estate with no strings.

Greece and Portugal both have golden visa's for 250,000 euro in real estate investment if memory serves. I think Spain's is 500K. Probably my mexico backup plan if things got bad in the region we're moving to.

If you've done alright here (especially if you bought a house before the prices went stupid) it's a pretty decent option. Sell everything, apply for your golden visa. A few years of residency and you can apply for citizenship.

I've been mulling a future where I live somewhere in the Balkans (Montenegro) for a few months per year...this makes it more feasible I think.
I mean you can always go somewhere for a few months a year. It's figuring out how to chain stuff together to stay longer, or to actually have a residency, that are the hard parts.
