No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

I don’t think we need him. I’d say if we got someone like Lindholm, that’s the kind of guy to invest in. Knies and Robertson can do what we need on the wings.

You keep Bert long-term if you can. Just not sure he'd take the amount of money I'm thinking he has has earned based on his counting stats... But you sure as hell give it a go. A perfect middle six complementary piece long-term at a reasonable AAV would be a nice luxury.

But I think he has his eyes on something much higher that I don't think anyone will give him after this season.. So maybe he takes another 1 year show me deal somewhere else.

With Klingberg: 14gms, 46.6xgf%
W/O Klingberg: 27gms, 54.0xgf%

Since Reaves' last game: 14gms, 55.5xgf% (too lazy to add up every game he was in and out of the lineup).

Not like it should be surprising - these guys were beyond terrible and were sinking us.

I'd really like to be able to add a "W/O Gregor" and maybe even a "W/O Kampf" to this list.

Bert is a smart player. That Mitch goal last night was a prime example of his hockey iq. Most shoot in that situation

It kinda seems like the way Keefe uses Kampf that he thinks he's actually very good whereas I think he's been pretty much unplayable/terrible and that very wide gulf scares me.

I know we have an analytics team and stuff, is there more that I'm missing?

Starting to run out of prime seasons to "show me" in. If he doesn't "show me" again next season again wherever he lands, he's going to end up as a 30 yr old free agent with 3 yrs of 40-50 point production as his recent body of work. If someone offers him a bag for his 29-32 yr old seasons, he would be smart to not bet on himself again and just take the money. Would literally be another injury filled season away from Dennis Schrodering himself.

I like the idea of Lindholm, but you're not going to like what Calgary is going to want for him.
You’re always the loudest advocate of rentals not getting the crazy return everyone always expects, but now you’ve stuffed Knies into the FedEx box holding the 1st?

Do you really think he ages well? I’m concerned this is the best he’ll be over the next 5 years.

Oh I agree. It's not what I'd advise if I were his agent of financial advisor. But I wouldn't be surprised if that was his thought process. Go to another team to try his luck at a solid counting stats season and then cash in longer team.

Knies isn't a crazy return for a rental though.

The Athletic opined recently on what a decent return for him would be in trade for Calgary and their answer was pretty reasonable. Either a good 1st round pick (bubble team, with a pick in the teens) + a lesser prospect. Or a lesser 1st (contending level team with a pick in the mid-high 20's) and a top prospect. I'm of a similar mind, though I could see the 1st being conditional on him re signing and it being a 2nd if he doesn't.

Yeah, he could always sign for a bad team that promises him PP1 opportunities that aren't here in Toronto. He probably chases 60+ points again for one of those.
