this really checks out eye test wise.

Not against Jenner, however a few things kind of concern me.

-He's being fed first line minutes and first unit pp time on the Jackets. As a checking center, he'll be good, but I'd expect more of a 10g/30pt pace in 3rd line minutes and lower pp usage (unless we park him on unit 1 instead of Tavares*....). Is the acquisition cost going to be for the first line player he is on Columbus or the 3rd line player he will be on the leafs

-He has had some serious back injuries in the past. I don't want to say the back is a ticking time bomb, but you'd want to be really sure on the physical that it's not going to be a problem in the future

-We have a history of getting players from Columbus that are well past their expiration dates.

*sorry for the blasphemy LoF

Only two guys who are in the "significantly better" category on both ends are Timmins and Bertuzzi. Though Matthews and Liljegren come really close.

I guess Boone Jenner has "Leadership and intangibles" qualities. We should grab that from the Columbus Blue Jackets...

Meanwhile Timmins can't get into the lineup, Lilly is on the bottom pair and Bertuzzi is benched once every few games, and publicly berated.

Sheldon is gonna Sheldon

Lilly should be challenging Rielly for TOI lead at 5v5 and Brodie should be scaled back to McCabe levels or lower. Timmins and Benoit should probably be around the same at 13ish minutes.

to the extent Lilly's development is 'stalled', we have only the oaf behind the bench to blame. dude has been ready for greater challenger and opportunity every season going back three now it feels (including this one).

ugh. we are the masters of our own misery.

That year we had Barrie and, who was it Babushkin, playing ahead of Lilly and Sandin who sat in the playoff still burns my ass.

ugh I'd love to see the breakdown of that between "while building our 3 leads" and "while blowing our 3 leads" and "while desperately trying to come back at the end after blowing our 3 leads".
