As a former low-level hockey referee, I can confirm that it is much easier to accurately record first assists than second assists as a referee. In my experience at least.

Yeah, it's super easy to notice the guys doing the things. Way harder to keep tabs on guys hanging from their nuts while they do the things.

Great shot, sent two guys to the bench on Sunday who dared to block it. But definitely the big flaw in my game is I don’t use it enough. Always looking to make a play and it becomes predictable that I usually won’t shoot.

My criticism of Auston is that he’s good enough to have as many points as Kuch and Mack right now.

But he has more primary points (goals + real assists) than Mackinnon does and isn't far being Kucherov (who leads the league) in primary points as well.

He's too busy being the best goal scorer in history to worry about who the guy he's passing to is passing to.

He has more goals though which are 33 1/3% more important than assists, which are 33 1/3 more important than secondary assists which means his goals are 66 2/3% more important than secondary assists.....which means his point total is actually 23% higher than both kuch and mack right now

This saddened everyone’s day. People were getting all revved up to make fun of my street hockey league, canceled all the rest of their appointments for the day. Fun story: I was shooting a game at an arena in Newmarket (fucked if I can remember which one, not Magna, one of the other ones...Ray Twinney?) last winter and was checking out their wall of fame during intermission and guess who was on it....
