Like…we already traded a 1st, 2nd & 3rd round pick for O’Reilly not even two years ago. And then the dude couldn’t get the hell out of here and back to a quiet, no-expectation hockey backwater fast enough, even with Toronto reportedly offering the same money.

Considering that, and remembering how painfully slow he already was in his last go-round…no thanks. The idea of firing another pile of valuable future assets out of a cannon for him again grosses me out.

ROR was great for us, and key to us finally winning a round.

By all reports he left because he didn't care for Sheldon.

Also, he'll be cheaper this time, due to age and contract.

He wasn't great for us, and that's not a cue to break out the Tavares/ROR comparison.

He was pretty invisible, didn't add anything that any other player with a decent few games wouldn't have added. Some of his points were off his ass or while lying on the ice. The guy had a hat trick in his first game and then never really came close to being that kind of player for us.

But as a guy with only two years left, if they were to retain some too, and play just 3C and not shoehorned into PP action, he could be good.

As LGM said though, he didn't give a shit to be a Leaf and took off for more loser-ish pastures the first chance he got. Whether it was Keefe or not, that was ultra lame shit. It would be better to come up with a fresh new name. Someone that could be the right age to stick around for a while and actually bring some elements like speed and scoring that could give us more in that department than slow vet stuff. Especially if we're going to be parting with yet another 1st. For a 2nd and stuff, with retention, he'd be a great secondary add, and then go spend the prime asset capital on someone better.

By all reports?

I’ve never seen that suggested anywhere aside from pure, unsourced spitballing speculation on FI.

24gms, 18:03 (+4.5dzs%), 24gl/68pt pace, 58.0fo%

spending half his time with Kerf and Acciar against the toughest matchups.

and then goes out and is a quality #1C for the most improved team in hockey the next season.

this shit is so dumb.

Nah, it's not.

If somehow Boston were to fall out of the playoff picture, or got a key injury that killed the year, I would so chase after Marchand...

There are some guys, where I've always thought, if we could just add him, I'd almost bet we'd win it all. Marchand would be one of those.
