No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

8 years from now Matthews, Marner and Nylander will be top 3 in the Leafs all time scorers, and Rielly will be 2nd for D.

My knee-jerk reaction was that with how long he’s been here, Rielly must have a decent shot at being the #1 scoring Leaf D of all time.

But damn, Borje. It’s possible, but Mo has a decent challenge on his hands. To catch him while playing on his current deal, he’d have to rack up a minimum of 50 points this year and for each of the remaining six years on his deal.

He’ll then be entering his age 36 season his first year after his current deal is up, assuming he’s still playing. So in theory he could still have a little extra time to chip away at that total.

that's a tall ask

I’m going to Uno reverse your “oh my sweet summer child”, because I don’t think there’s a chance in hell Mitchy boy & Paul will be accepting any contract extension that doesn’t have an AAV starting with 13.

They might go an extra year or two more than Auston’s four, but Paul will not countenance his special boy having a lower number than Matthews.

Fuck Paul.

Fuck Mitch too if he doesn't get his shit together.

He could easily have a few 70+ point seasons in there.

Don't forget that McDavid will boost the offense even more, and by then Keefe will be selling hotdogs outside the stadium to a fat and happily retired Kessel.

We've sort of slept through almost a decade of having these superstars all at once, and it's because they've somehow failed to have any playoff success whatsoever, which makes absolutely no sense.

The tide has to turn at some point soon here. These guys must win at least couple of cups before all is said and done, or it'll be the biggest waste in pro sports history.

First year of the big 4's second contracts: 50% of cap
Next year: 53%

Basically just status quo next year.

The following year if Marner gets $12 and Tavares re-signs for $5-6 on likely a $92 mill cap then we are finally getting some real cap space.

Pastrnak signed for 13.5% of the cap. Willy for 13.1%.

Production leading up to the signings:

Pastrnak

34gl/82pt pace
46gl/88pt pace
57gl/109pt pace (season in progress on date of signing)

Nylander

35gl/81pt pace
40gl/87pt pace
47gl/120pt pace (season in progress on date of signing)

Can’t wait for Marner to skewer Tre next year for 13+.

We can’t catch a break. So dumb on our part to wait Nylander out when we could’ve had him for cheaper in the offseason.

I think after complaining so hard about keefe sticking with Matthews-Marner for so long, and then seeing Tavares-marner suck together, I'm starting to come around to the fact that Matthews is carrying Marner this year, and Keefe might be aware of it.

Given how seemingly amiable the Nylander negotiations were this time around, with everyone certain months ago that it was "just a matter of time" and almost no juice to fuel negative headlines, I'm sure the media is drooling over what the upcoming Marner negotiations could become.
